  1. I would hope that the search for Misson’s replacement would have started a long time ago and that any suitable replacement would already been contracted and employed by someone else.
  2. Interesting suggestion... Has Freeman managed to keep his pace after all his hamstring injuries? Was a jet in his draft year...
  3. Good to see the comments thus far are not too extreme. There is still plenty we can do this year to prepare for the future; and of course I’m not completely dismissing playing finals, but it is now looking unlikely (I was believer up until yesterday). We need to look to Geelong 2006-07 and Richmond 2016-17. Both teams came off finals years and were expected to feature in September again. Both teams fell in a hole due to disfunction in the football department, player attitudes and expectations, injuries and some rotten luck along the way. Both teams underwent a significant review and made structural changes in the off-season. Both teams went on to win a flag. I believe the list, for the most part, is very capable. I believe the senior coach is very capable. I also believe there has to be serious questions asked and answered as to how we are being run and led as a whole. There appears to be a level of disfunction in the club as we appear uncertain, unhappy and frustrated. Even when we were not playing well last year there was always an air or confidence, even arrogance about the place. That joy and attitude seems to be lost and we seem meek and lacking in spark and confidence.
  4. Disappointed to to see Light-Beer and Mid-Strength Beer getting a run when Moonshine and Rocket-Fuel are wasting away in the twos.
  5. Hunt and T. McDonald to the backline for starters. We need Hunt’s pace to defend the opposition rebound and TMac needs to freshen up and find his form again. Hunt if not a forward. Jeffy gets a run in the forward line and must be demanded to tackle everything that moves. Give Jones a defensive forward role in the pocket and tell him to make every ground ball a contest. Hopefully snag a couple too. Lockhart back in. I like him; things seems to ‘happen’ when the ball is in his hands. Weideman and Preuss stay as the talls up forward; not expecting a big bag from either, but hopefully a contest supported by Jeffy, Jones and Lockhart, will see a better outcome than today. Um... don’t really know after that.
  6. Sydney must be a very ordinary team...
  7. Zero confidence. He needs a break in the 2s. No shame in that; he’s young and inexperienced, but he’s struggling this year.
  8. There is nothing complicated about Preuss’s game. See ball, mark ball, kick ball, kick goal.
  9. So... Oscar’s fault..?
  10. Wife I have been doing this for a few months now. First two days are hard, everyday after that is easy. Whilst we’re certainly not professional athletes, I’ve only felt benefits so far with no noticeable lack of energy.
  11. Surprised he’s not more popular on here. His vision in traffic and passing is sublime. He always looks for a teammate in a better position and gives away a lot of goals that most small forwards would kick themselves. Such a good prospect for the future.
  12. Port Adelaide are mauling the eagles. Stronger, faster and running much harder.
  13. It’s like he’s speaking a different dialect of English...
  14. Brisbane play a great brand of football to watch.
  15. Did this report originate from a reliable source or is it just being bounced around in the AFL media/social media echo-chamber?
  16. Why I always enjoy ABC radio’a commentary- they let the game speak for itself and if it’s a bad game, they say it’s a bad game. The commercial stations will outright lie in their commentary to keep you from turning off.
  17. I would suggest it’s a matter of gameplan. Some teams seek to control the play and tempo with a lot of short passes. As we’re (usually) so good with the contested ball, we seek to keep the ball moving forward as quickly as possible.
  18. By what measurement is Darcy Moore an ‘elite defender’???
  19. Josh will have to do a lot to win me over after the last couple of years... seems more of an athlete than a footballer. Very happy for him to prove me wrong. I see a bit more potential in Corey. He’s a bit ungainly at times, but he has the knack of being in the right place at the right time and things tend to ‘happen’ when he gets involved. Corey is a step down from Hannan, who I rate very highly. There’s a spot for him in the team TIL hannan is back- hopefully he can make the most of it.
  20. "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated..."
  21. If it cheers anyone up, Buddy’s personal record against us is very poor considering he’s played for two of the best teams of the past ten years whilst we have been one of the worst. He’s never kicked more than 5 goals against us. (Equal second least) Hes kicked less goals against us than all but one other team (not including expansion teams and Hawthorn) In fact, he’s kicked more goals against Sydney than he has against the MFC. In Frost and OMac we trust.
  22. I believe I have realistic expectations Preuss in his first match for the club. I'm hoping he can play a role and reduce the burden on both our KPFs and, of course, on Gawn. What I'm really hoping for , however, is for him to apply some physical pressure and fear in the opposition defenders. Not since David Neitz have we had a power forward that has made opposition defenders think twice about standing under a high ball. The way Preuss has shown he can attach the ball in the air will hopefully make for a pretty stressful night for Sydney's talls.
  23. Dees by 24 point. We’ll come out strong and keep them at arms length for the entire night.
  24. I tend to agree. The young players stats are looking good, but the two way running and pressuring of the ball carrier who is delivering into our defensive 50 in completely non-existant. Good teams don't leave their defenders one-out against their opponent, or as we've seen often in the first three rounds, outnumbered in our defensive 50.
