Laurie Extends for 2 More Years
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Heart Beats True's topic in Melbourne Demons
Some of the comments in that thread are embarrassing. Shock, young players developing at Casey can be inconsistent.... -
Exactly. Once he is OOC this changes, but for the end of this year we can just say no deal and he comes back for another season. These articles saying 'Crows think they can get him' are all just for clickbait, fact is we don't have to trade.
-
Well yeah but you very rarely get what a player is worth once they are out of contract and want to leave, given the players can choose where they want to go. We are very lucky Freo tanked last year and we got Windsor!
-
He wanted to leave though and was out of contract so we did the best we could. No point whinging about a player who didn't want to be here, when the majority do. Agreed about Gawn injury, but most teams are the same (dockers probably the only ones who can cover their number one ruck). If English goes down Dogs have to ruck either Darcy or Lobb full time. If Marshall goes down the Saints have Tom Campbell. If Soldo goes down the Power have Jordon Sweet and so on and so on. There aren't many good ruckman around and there are hardly any AFL standard rucks in the VFL.

Lol I would never be bidding for that.... maybe the olympics but sounds like our pollies can't work together to organise anything
-
It feels as though some people just want to be outraged no matter what is happening. It's like the Tasmanian stadium talk, they need to view this as an investment into the future of the state with potential sporting events and concerts to be held. Instead there are pollie's using the current economic issues to try stop progression, while fixing both is not necessarily unachievable.

I assume no news is good news for Clarry..... 😐

Sounds like the FD really rate Bailey and want to see him continue to grow and improve. I'm happy with this as it ensures we have decent depth on the list and it also give Bailey the opportunity to just focus on footy without the worry about coming out of contract. Lets also not forget that he would be on a relatively low wage for an AFL player so wouldn't be taking much out of our salary cap. Our recruitment team has been one of the best performed for 10 years now, so anyone trying to call out our misses is taking the p i $ $ -
PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Port Adelaide
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Apparently Horne-Francis will miss again. -
Exactly. I think we will go free agency/trades to cover those guys, but I also won't write off Adams/Verrall just yet. We've seen Howes come in this year after a couple of years at Casey so sometimes it can click. Plus big guys take a bit longer. I'm more saying I don't think we should start panicking about those two finishing up just yet.
-
100% agree. Which is why I'm not as concerned about the Gawn/May retirements. The real end of the 'era' will be Trac, Viney, Salem, Oliver, Fritsch, Lever, Langdon, ANB, Billings etc.

PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Port Adelaide

I think we also need to get physical with him, not illegally but when the chance is there put a heavy tackle on. Butters is only slight, though he is super quick. -
That is a fair assessment, but let's not forget they are 22, 20, 21 & 20.......

@binman loved the analysis of the stats guy (think is name is Daniel Hoyne?) speaking with Gerard Healy about our new plan to score more from the back half. I think the one thing that the media are sleeping on is just how good our half backs actually are. McVee, Rivers, Howes and Bowey are all elite kicks and are going to be so dangerous. I actually believe that is the best group of half back users in the competition
-
AFL fantasy is purely based off stats. i.e 3 points for a kick, 3 for a mark, 2 for a handball etc. Supercoach is the one that adds additional scoring for effective disposal, score assists etc. Petracca has a SC score of 146 compared to Sicily 123, which shows he was more effective in the game.
-
I reckon they are really setting themselves for these 2 games and will be looking at it as a positive i.e. rather than making two trips to Adelaide throughout the year we knock them both off. Both are going to be tough games, but I'll back the boys in and think they will steal themselves to try go 2-0 in Adelaide.
-
It will all be about the midfield. If we pressure them up the field and they have to bomb it in these guys will have an absolute field day marking everything.
-
Let's keep this going as long as possible!

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
DistrACTION Jackson replied to adonski's topic in Melbourne Demons
I 100% agree on the Chris Judd comparison, he's just a bit lighter than Judd when he first started. I was also one who was worried when we drafted an 'outside' runner with the pick and remember thinking his stats at junior level were pretty pedestrian, but I can now see he is so much more than that. I already love the guy and just can't wait watching him develop into an absolute gun midfielder. He is a great winger already, but I can see him developing to also play through the centre square once he adds 5-10 kgs. -
Maybe their bus will crash on the way to GMHBA.... oh wait...

Sounds like the Kolt isn't that far off as well. Guess it is just hard to find him a spot with Kozzy, Billings, ANB and Chandler all having good games last week. -
The White family are still massive Dees fans... I'd be pretty surprised if he decided to go to the GC. I guess that decision would be more if he really wanted to stay up there, but still think the lure of playing for Melbourne will outweigh that.

Hypotheticals on Tasmania entry concessions
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Skuit's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is true, as long as there is compensation. I think our list management and drafting team are one of the better ones, so will back us to have a good strategy in place. -
The main issue the MRO have is they had to deem it as 'medium' impact to get a week suspension with the matrix they used. I totally agree with the tribunal that it wasn't medium impact, which is why they need greater powers outside of this matrix for certain acts i.e. deliberate kicking, spitting, biting, eye gouging and I would even go as far as to say pinching could be thrown in this. It's all just BS acts on a footy field.
-
Irrelevant in my view given he deliberately kicked someone. But happy to agree to disagree.
