Cheers Billy. At least someone can comprehend a post.....

I doubt he would be best 22 so I'd rather see us pick up a genuine back up ruck such as Brooksby or Minson in case Gawn goes down.

List analysis: What Melbourne needs
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think we should either select a mature age ruckman with our last draft pick, or wait until the rookie draft and pick them up then. With Mitch King likely to take some time and doubtful we would want him playing at AFL level this season, that leaves us with 2 pure ruckman in Gawn and Spencer. We definitely need a 3rd for protection should the unthinkable happen. -

Anyone getting down there today? -
I hate this idea that has been proposed by the AFL and I'll give my reason why. After round 18 this season the top 8 of the ladder sat like this: Hawks: 14 wins GWS: 12 wins Sydney: 12 wins Cats: 12 wins West Coast: 12 wins Adelaide: 12 wins Bulldogs: 12 wins North: 11 wins If the proposed changes came into affect then Hawks, GWS, Sydney, Cats, West Coast & Adelaide would all have to play each other once. As there would only be 5 games it would mean some teams would have 3 home games and others 2 which is also unfair. However, the biggest part of inequality would be that the Dogs (who were even on games won but just behind in %) would have to play North, Saints, Port, Melbourne & Collingwood. So essentially they are being rewarded with an easier last 5 games which they would likely win all of them leaving them on 17 wins and likely a top 2 spot. Obviously they won the premiership anyway but I still think this system has so many flaws that it can't possibly be used. The current system is probably as fair as you can get at the moment without extending the season and playing everyone twice.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TIM SMITH
DistrACTION Jackson replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would love to use a late pick on him and give him a shot. Impressive when these guys can perform while holding down a full time job against guys whose only job is to play football. -
I agree. I just use that as an exercise to try and predict how many games we win & lose and it usually ends up pretty accurate.
-
Losses: Round 1 v Saints Round 3 v Geelong, Round 8 v Adelaide, Round 13 v Bulldogs, Round 14 v West Coast, Round 20 v GWS 50/50: Round 6 v Essendon Round 15 v Sydney Round 17 v Adelaide Round 23 v Collingwood While I'm sure we will win probably one or two of the losses I find it works well when you assume you will lose certain games and win others as it generally evens out. Also, I'd be bitterly disappointed if we lose to Essendon & Collingwood but I just feel they are 50/50 games at the moment.
-
I am predicting we have the following: Definite wins: 12 Definite losses: 6 50/50: 4 Outcome: 13-14 wins and our first finals series since 06.

Who's in your top 8 for 2017?
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Delusional demon 82's topic in Melbourne Demons
Mine is: 1: GWS 2: Sydney 3: Western Bulldogs 4: Adelaide 5: West Coast 6: Geelong 7: Melbourne 8: Hawthorn -
I agree Stuie. But we all know the AFL lacks integrity and base all decisions on money and that is it. It's the world we live in unfortunately.

Best 22 for Round 1, 2017
DistrACTION Jackson replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Since it seems we are playing Saints at Etihad Round one, I would hope we bring a running side such as the following: B: Jetta O Mac Frost HB: Hunt T Mac Hibberd C: Stretch Lewis Tyson HF: Petracca Hogan Kent F: Garlett Watts Brayshaw R: Gawn Viney Jones Int: Melksham Vince Oliver Harmes I think we still need to play 3 tall defenders as Reiwoldt & Membrey cut us up last time so we need flexibility. Frost & Watts to alternate as back up ruck. Stretch, Hunt & Melksham will give us speed from half back & on the wings. I would also contemplate leaving out Harmes for Kennedy but I guess it depends on form. I'll go early and say Oliver BOG with 30 touches and a goal! -
I don't mind it. Everyone is talking them up as top 8 material next season. We can shut those people up by coming out and beating them on their home turf! I will definitely be there! Go Dees!

SYNDROME # 47 AND HOW TO DEAL WITH IT
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Apparently Jack Maibaum was solid in the Championships as Full Back. Could add to our key back stocks which I feel is a little light on? The other option I would like to see is if we take a punt on a small, quick forward as they usually slide (think Caleb Daniel). -
Yeah I agree. The new AFL DT is too difficult with the constant changing of salary and the huge amount of trades required. I am happy to play either RDT or SC (or both), as long as we have the numbers. If anyone runs any Ultimate Footy comps I'd also be keen. I'm in one that is run out of Perth but I moved to Melbourne a few years ago so it would be good to do one here as well.

6, 14, 19, 22, 31, 38, 40 and 45
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Though I don't really care that much, I suspect the following: #6: Jordan Lewis (double 3 so makes sense). #14: Josh Wagner (no reason other than he deserves a lower number). #19: Michael Hibberd (will get to sit next to his mate in the change rooms). #22: Pat McKenna The rest for the new draftees/rookies. -
I agree with this sentiment. You don't win a flag with one player, Dangerfield was almost unstoppable this year and the Cats got flogged in the Prelim. A champion team beats a team of champions, especially a team paying a lot for one champion.
-
I just couldn't get the job done against Marvel Mavericks! Deevoted- are we only running a Supercoach competition next season due to lack of interest in the DT format? I'm happy to move to that one if it means there is more people involved and better leagues. Last season we had randoms in our league and it's not the best.

Tuohy is ordinary. The cats seem to be getting desperate.

If Prestia honestly believes he can go and get paid $700K per season and be a part of a successful club he is kidding himself. Though I suspect he was really only worried about the money, which is why I'm glad we didn't go for him. Richmond are a joke and I can't wait to beat them by 10 goals next year.

Best 22 for Round 1, 2017
DistrACTION Jackson replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Mine would be as follows: B: Jetta T Mac Frost HB: Hibberd O Mac Hunt C: Stretch Jones Lewis HF: Watts Hogan Petracca F: Garlett Pedo Kent R: Gawn Tyson Viney Int: Vince Brayshaw Oliver Salem Emg: Melksham Vandenberg Spencer Depth: Neal-Bullen Trengove Kennedy Bugg JKH Weid Lumumba Wagner That's 33 players who I think would be more than worthy of a sport in the best 22. Bring on 2017! -
Week Off before Finals has been Retained
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I very quickly put that together so would have to give it more thorough thought. I do think if they want to persist with the bye week they should change the format. The benefit of finishing in the top 4 would be that you would face a bottom 4 side in the 2nd week, for example if !st beat 4th they are most likely to play 8th in week 2 which would see them go through to the prelim. -
Week Off before Finals has been Retained
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd like to see them shake up the way the finals series work so each team plays every week after the bye as the break becomes irrelevant. Perhaps the following: Week 1: 1st v 4th (1) / 2nd v 3rd (2) / 5th v 8th (3) / 6th v 7th (4) Non-elimination round Week 2: Winner (1) v Loser (3) (1*) / Loser (1) v Winner (3) (2*) / Winner (2) v Loser (4)(3*) / Loser (2) v Winner (4) (4)*Loser eliminated Week 3: Winner (1*) v Winner (4*) / Winner (2*) v Winner (3*) GF Would be interesting.
