  1. That is a very tough 6 weeks! If we can sneak 2 wins out of those I'll be very happy.
  2. Yeah. I think Toumpas's turnovers are all between the ears, his kicking style is fine just got to back himself in. Bail we know isn't the greatest kick but we ned to replace Kent with someone who has speed and an ability to defend so I think we will get the nod. And Grimes is the obvious replacement for Jetta as a lockdown defender and as long as he plays within his limits he should be fine. It will be interesting to see how these guys come in and if the new found confidence of the side will help their disposal.
  3. I doubt Dom will play so I think it will be the following: Outs: Kent, Jetta, Tyson Ins: Grimes, Bail, Toumpas (probably a bit early but will have to play if Dom's out) Team as follows: B: Grimes McDonald Garland HB: Salem Dunn Howe C: Lumumba Jones Cross HF: JKH Hogan Newton F: Garlett Dawes Watts R: Jamar Vince VandenBerg Int: Brayshaw Bail Michie Sub: Toumpas
  4. Big day for our boys. A couple of spots opening up so I expect some big performances from Grimes, Bail, Toumpas and Jones.
  5. There was one play where Dom took it straight out of the middle and sent it long inside 50. I think it ended in a JKH goal. He has definitely started the season slowly but that's not a bad thing, just shows we've got others in the midfield who are stepping up. He will find some form as the season goes on.
  6. I can't believe we win a game by 31 points and there are people still sitting here bagging Watts. Joke
  7. You guys seriously must sit there and watch every little thing he does. I didn't think Newton was that great last night he did OK but I don't see anyone giving it to him. You are fixated on his draft number which this club needs to get over. It's just a number and shouldn't change the way we assess any player.
  8. If we keep building and start playing finals footy that won't happen. It's totally up to the club to create an environment where our team can grow and hopefully play GF's in the near future. If hawthorn poach anymore players I will absolutely explode! I'm sick of them and don't want to see them win another flag!
  9. I loved the pre-game stuff and it's actually changed my mind about having a night GF. I think the stuff they could do with a night GF would be great and I'd be surprised if they don't trial it in the next 5-10 years.
  10. I thought he did some really good things and a few poor things but overall he wasn't terrible and anyone who says he was has obviously made their decision about him. What I don't like is that the AFL website have a 'spotlight on jack watts' video. No other player gets this so why does he? I don't see Tom Scully getting a video on him when he gets 10 possessions a game getting paid 1 mill a year! I want the club to make a complaint about that video it's not on.
  11. I looked up at the stats at 3qtr time and it was 24-12 richmond's way, so I thought they were extremely inconsistent. Of course they squared it up slightly by giving us more free kicks in the last qtr. Always happens!
  12. I am so pumped for the game I haven't been able to do any work this afternoon! Almost there!
  13. There is no doubt the fact his brother is our captain would have us slightly more interested. The reason is that it would likely make him more open to moving to play for us than anything else. I know he played some footy in the pre-season and looked right at home. He likes the tough stuff, but seems a bit raw like his brother. At least we know we would get maximum effort and desire to improve.
  14. The fact he isn't playing is not because he isn't up to AFL standard. It's because he plays in the 2nd best side in the comp. with a deep midfield.
  15. In relation to some of your points: Luxury Tax: this won't really work as the rich clubs will be happy to pay a little extra. What I think should be done is like the NFL where clubs who finish at the top are unable to enter free agency. This would then limit the players that the top clubs can acquire each year. If this was put in place you could then get rid of the compensation. Exposure: The idea behind this would be to try and get more people watching to help build a supporter base. You can't base your argument on our poorly run club of the previous 8 years. It would mean clubs like the Dog (who I think have been run really well but get shafted), North, Melbourne etc. get to have games at better time slots. At the moment it's the same clubs playing the same time slots each week which is a joke. Salary cap: I didn't realise they have a flexible cap at the moment so if they do that is a positive.
  16. The equalisation of the competition comes down to a few simple issues: - Free agency: there needs to be limits put on which sides can pick up free agents otherwise the top clubs will continue to raid the lower clubs. - Fixturing: the fixture needs to be 'cleaned' up so that clubs like Melbourne and the doggies get an even amount (slightly more even) of exposure as clubs like collingwood and hawthorn (i.e. friday night games). - Salary cap: there needs to be a 'flexible' cap whereby clubs can pay less one year but more the other. It can be assessed over a 5 year period and as long as a club has paid the minimum requirement over those years but hasn't gone over then they are fine. - Sydney and Brisbane DO NOT need academies. They already benefit from father son recruits so they don't need another avenue to gain players. The academy should be kept for GC and GWS for the foreseeable future though.
  17. I think a mixture of trading and drafting. If we can get a player in the 20-23 age bracket who is already an established good player like shiel or coniglio then we should trade. But we can always use our 2nd or 3rd rounder and we seem to do well with these picks.
  18. He is actually 27 not 29. If he was an UFA I would go for him but not for a trade.
  19. It depends where our pick falls. If it is number 5 or 6 then I would definitely swap it for Aish. If it is pick 2 then that may be a different story. Aish was a pick 7 from two years ago and his first season form was outstanding! He averaged over 17.5 possessions per game plus more than 3.5 tackles per game.
  20. Zak Jones seems to be struggling to get a game in the Swans star studded side. I think he could be a great value trade probably only costs a 2nd or 3rd rounder. I would love to see us do the following this off season: - Trade our first pick (likely between 2-5) to GWS or Brisbane for one of: Shiel, Treloar, Coniglio or Aish. - Trade our 3rd round pick for Zak Jones - Bring in a free agent (thinking Scott Selwood) - Bring in a decent ruckman (thinking Gorringe or Leunberger)
  21. I think we may make a play for Coniglio. He is good mates with Dom, is fairly quick and can play outside or inside (more outside though).
  22. God another Neeld disaster. I really liked Stef Martin and thought he had some great attributes and was pretty pi$$ed when we traded him for f all
  23. I definitely think this is very winnable. As mentioned the Tigers have been challenged once this season and lost. If we play the type of footy we did against the crows I think we will win by 3 goals. Play the way we did against GWS and we lose by 5.
