We'd only have five posters here if that was the law of the land. And, no, I wouldn't be one of them.

Yeah, I'm with you, sort of. Hogan on the park might make me feel better though.

I'll wait for the official word before jumping in, but I'm hoping it's not another kick in the nuts. It seems like this clubs lot in life: 'So you thought something good was going to happen? Here, have another kick in the nuts. That will teach you to hope'

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Agree with that. Also the side needs to believe in itself. At certain times in the first half of the season it did, and the skills rose as did the results. Later we second guessed ourselves and fall back to that confused and terribly bad side of the last couple of years. It wasn't that players forgot how to kick and run; it was that they didn't trust themselves to make the right call, or for their teammates and so they second guessed themselves and, of course, [censored] it up. I played in a truly bad team in the mid 90's. We were flogged more than we were in games, but a couple of years later with very little change in personal we won back to back flags. All I can put it down to is belief: in ourselves, our teammates and our coach. And from that everything else flowed. That's Roos' mantra: play your role, believe you team mate will do the same, and things will get better. Look at 87/88. We didn't have a great side, but we had a team that believed that they were as good as the rest, and because of that we beat teams that, on paper, should have smashed us. It might not have got us a flag, but it did get a team of good players and journeymen very close. And, no, I don't know the formula. If I did I'd charge you all 1.5 mil for the secret.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA
Uncle Fester replied to Moonshadow's topic in Melbourne Demons
In case someone thinks it means happy. -
The only thing they did wrong was forget just how much the media loves to fire up the public with mock outrage over nothing stories. I'm sure the lesson has been learnt now though.
-
Delisted iirc and picked up by Richmond as a freebie. But I could be wrong as those years scarred me and make me rock back and forth, but I think I have it right here.
-
I don't rate Bennell. Never did. But I can't say I've watched any WCE games this year (I was working during both out encounters) so take that for what it's worth. But, yeah, Petterd. I think I repressed the memory of him going. That was another WTF moment. He should never have been delisted.

I remember him literally jumping on Kosi's head in centre ball ups when Jamar was out. At the time I put it down to Kosi being brain damaged from Gia's hit way back when, but I guess not. I still don't understand why we gave him up, but *sigh* it is what it is, and he's probably the only ex Demon from the dark years that is earning his pay at his new club.

I'll give you Buddy and Goddard. Daisy not so much.
-
That will never happen. Dawes got rubbed out, remember?
-
Good luck, lads. You got to do something I'll never get to do.
-
I laughed when I saw the picture. Wasn't that the point?

We're the new Richmond. No finals and catch and kill our own. Good list although I'd have found a way to slot Jetta in. Edit: didn't get the rules until a second look. Carry on.

Umpiring is shitful and crap across the board. Go back to (say) 1980. You had one umpire each for six games. The best 6 umpires going around. Now you have 3 x 9 umps plus 9 emergencies each round. The best 36 going around. And with three on the ground we get ones seeing a tackle one way, and another another, while the other ump sees it as play on. So closest to the contest make the call. You think that adding a couple of teams made the talent level of players drop? Add 20 more teams and we'd have something approching the dilution of talent the footballers would have if they were umpires.

No I got you. I was just pointing out that it's about the filter rather than the situation, If the filter is happy and healthy then he'll be happy no matter where he is; if it isn't then no amount of changing jobs or postcodes will help. And I agree competely with the last line.
-
I don't think it's as easy as that. You can have a great job, great wife, great friends and still be followed by the black dog, Or you can live in a cardboard box and be upbeat that tomorrow will be a better day. It's more about how you filter the outside world. If you are depressed then the filter is off kilter and only lets in and magnifies the bad things, and those bad things are usually the things that reflect on your perceived self worth rather than a given situation.
-
Happy in October, depressed in March. You think we'd be used to it by now.

#18 raised a good smile here.
-
This. He [censored] on us last time he was on the market. I say we return the favour.
-
Don't like the boos? Easily fixed. Don't play like like a country reserves side that all have gastro.
-
A fat contract. This stuff doesn't happen oever night.
-
Why are we only asking for one?

Welcome to the Melbourne Demons - Christian Petracca.
Uncle Fester replied to Coup Cooper's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd rather we used it to chase a 21-24 year old that can play with the big boys. The draft is a lottery. For every Buddy there is a Tambling, for every Judd a Morton. We can't afford to get it wrong even if we miss a generation star.
