  1. I hope they do. I hope they drain every cent they have in this already lost battle. Then Hird can go on Oprah and admit his sins, pocket another mil, while a once proud club lies dead in the gutter. If we are going to have the AFL story of the century then we might as well have one that plays out to the bitter end.
  2. Rich. Sociopaths don't feel anything other than what gets them the best deal.
  3. I used a hammer. Messy, but it worked eventually.
  4. I didn't mention anyone by name. That's you either projecting someone else's argument on mine, or making it up in your head.
  5. No. Just the ones that aren't going to be there when we play finals.
  6. Everyone seems angry that we didn't beat a very good team. We didn't get smashed. We made them earn it. We're a bottom 4 side (and have been for a long time) that is making progress even if it's uneven. And sure we made skill errors, and sure we need a forward line, and sure some of the players that we've been relying on had a bad day, but if someone had have offered me a less thatn 7 goal loss to C'wood on QB in November last year I would have taken it in an instant. There was a lot of glass half full today, even if 3.10 was an ugly scoreline.
  7. My issue is that this is the same non gameday stuff we got from the last mob, and the mob before that, and the mob before that. I seem to remember a quote recently about how we were about everything but being a football club. Well this is no different. Emblems, blazers, China, etc. Just get the football dept and team right and everything else will fall into place. That's how the big teams in the world got big. Not from tinkering with a song or coming up with a new cartoon to put on a letterhead. And I really like our song just the way it is. It's the sweetest sound in the world after a win. And I even like the outdated and not oft heard second verse. If any of that gets changed I'll be one unhappy supporter.
  8. Sounded like a lot of hot air to me. Smash teams and win flags is what I want to see. The rest is smoke and mirrors that means nothing.
  9. I don't really know who we should target - I'll leave that to those at the coal face - but what we'd offer (I assume) is a good player that we can cover. We don't have a lot of depth except in the backline. Our rucks are just on the park, our forwards are pretty much Dawes, and our mids have just been put together after years of not having much at all. Frawley would be perfect as trade bait for a gun player... but we don't have that luxury. I think that right now all we can really offer is picks and steak knives until we get more depth.
  10. An A grade ruck is always going to be a good thing to have, especially if they can influence play away from ball ups and throw ins, but I'd rather an OK ruck division and great on ballers than the other way around. I think that the real point of ruckmen is to stop the opposition talls from dominating. If you can break even there then money and picks are probably better spent on guys that get the ball 30 odd times a game.
  11. Possibly, but I think Occam would suggest it was just maturity. I know that at 24 I was a bit player but at 25 everything seemed to click and I went from struggling to hold a spot to one of the better players. Of course that was local stuff, but I've seen enough of it at AFL level (or in other sports like cricket) to realise that sometimes that's just how it works.
  12. I just hope he can get himself to a good place. Football is a great thing that means a lot to many of us, but it's just a game. Whatever Mitch is/was going through wasn't a game.
  13. I'm undecided. I'd like him to stay because he is a very good backman, and they don't grow on tree, but at the same time I have faith that the current regime will maximise our compo and that we can also fill the gap of no Chip. I'm in the odd position of thinking that no matter what happens we'll do OK out of it.
  14. If I can get good odd on that I'm putting a lazy ten on it.
  15. I'm happy to eat my words. 18 months ago I thought he was only on the list because you can only clear out so many at a time, and he wouldn't have been worth anything on the market anyway. Then last year I saw him start playing good football, but I was pretty sceptical about how long that would last. This year has been a very big step forward for him, and I'm very happy for him. If he ever stands on the podium on the greatest day I get the feeling he'll get a bigger cheer than most because will know where he came from and what a sea change it was for him to turn it around.
  16. Write the names down and bookmark the quotes, and then link them everytime you get a chance. Twitter is good for stuff like that. But always remember that revenge tastes better cold. We can wait. We're good at that.
  17. As the bible says: a time to sow, a time to reap. I time to live, a time to die, a time to be spat at by an inbred Collingwood supporter, and a time to punch him in the face so he loses his last two teeth (also called a seven - ten split). God said it and I'm not going to argue with a dude that can throw lightning bolts at me.
  18. It's customary after a line of coke. It stops it falling out your nose and wasting it.
  19. I remember seeing him running along the wing / HF and two Collingwood players came at him from either side. They were timed so they'd both hit him at the same time, and he spun - yep - spun through the middle of the them at pace, and kept going leaving them both grabbing air. He had no right to do that and no other player could have done that, but he did it, and he did it as easy as you or I would walk through a door.
  20. It has been for years. The supporters run the club and the board and surrounding staff are too [censored] scared to offend them. And when you add to this that the supporters are either drinking champagne because their team is better than anyone or drinking cyanide because they are the worst team in the league, then you have mob rule, and that never works. It especially won't work down Tigger Alley because their supporters are so freakin' unbalanced and unrealistic. Normally when you point at cultural problems in a club you target players, or coaches or admin. Down that way it's the supporters that harm the club in ways that no other club has managed, and probably won't. Until that changes they will either be suffocated by unrealistic expectations when they win, or drowned by the vitriol and anger that accompanies losses. But enough about putting the boot into the RFC in its moment of pain (as fun as that is). I want to talk to that fella that defected from us to go join them when we had our teatime of the soul. What was his name again?
  21. We didn't. He abandoned us. This is the life he chose, not the life we offered.
  22. Is there a link to the presser anywhere?
