  1. I agree. Tyson was far from our worst on the weekend. I see improvements in his game, and he is finding the footy. He acknowledges in the MFC interview that he was wasteful - as was half our side, I don't think Tyson should be singled out, nor do I think he should put his media work on the backburner.
  2. I am not his greatest fan, but what is there to discuss? He speaks well. Or are you suggesting that he should shut up just because we got rolled by a sub par Essendon outfit?
  3. If he keeps performing, he'll get a gig. I don't think Roos is in the business of holding back players who consistently perform. We have some really promising players in the VFL, and that is a silver lining - to an otherwise bad weekend.
  4. I agree. It was evident last year that Roos wasn't much of a match day coach. Very good in other areas, just not much of a match day coach. Get Goodwin in the box and leave him there IMO.
  5. Yeah I noticed that. Their backline played to instructions, they were very disciplined and played to a plan. A lot of their older heads didn't panic, they slowed the play when it was necessary, and switched the play when the time called for it. We didn't do that, we have blokes like Tom McDonald think they can run the ball out of the backline by themselves - Lumumba isn't much better. There is a lack of structure down back. We don't use Salem enough, and there seems to be no real plan.
  6. In fairness to Hogan, he is still contracted till the end of next year. It is being a little overblown. He is down on form though, if he does keep hanging the head and not following up, he might wish he did sign earlier.
  7. We have a good list, we will get a lot of wins. But there was a clear lack of desperation today. We are carrying quite a few laid back characters, and when they don't perform, we are made to look very ordinary. Players I am talking about are Watts, Salem, Hogan, McDonald, Tyson. There is a lack of desperation among a lot of our so called stars. Kennedy has managed to come in and overtake a fair chunk of the list, Oliver has looked better than 3 quarters of the list in the limited time he has played. Brayshaw did the same last year. It probably indicates we aren't quite as strong as most believe we are. I would like to see more from Salem, and Hogan needs to suck it up and stop sulking. He is a good player, yes, but he needs to realise that the whole team doesn't revolve around him. I feel that Roos might be pandering to him, hopefully a harder approach is taken. Viney had an uncharacteristically bad game, and I would've expected Gawn to dominate the ruck today - he didn't, and that didn't help. Our midfield needs a drastic change IMO. Jones and Tyson just aren't effective midfielders at the moment, and it is issue, our midfield is getting smashed by first year players (Parish), and overtaken by our first year players (Oliver). Looking forward to Petracca debuting, Gus gaining fitness (looks underdone), and Trengove returning (hopefully near his best).
  8. MFC - Playing for Stats.
  9. We looked very average, I wouldn't know where to start. Thought Kennedy was good though.
  10. Hopefully Trengove gets back to his junior form, we desperately need him to. Good to hear that he got through it.
  11. I am not his greatest fan, but he was far from our worst today.
  12. Gee Brayshaw looks underdone. He is going to be some player.
  13. This is the worst I've seen us play since Roos has been here.
  14. If Essendon could kick straight this game would already be over.
  15. Get Kennedy in the midfield. His inside game is so clean.
  16. Well done Jesse Hogan, good sharp hands in close there.
  17. Garlett best play of the day.
  18. Kennedy (along with Oliver) was a game changer last week. It is a great thing that we've been able to add these two guys.
  19. Pederson provided a target up forward (early on), and I thought he was solid. Definitely not in the frame to be dropped IMO. Tyson on the other hand, I thought he was very poor by foot. I watched the game a couple of times during the week, and I couldn't make a case for Tyson this week. He needs to go back to Casey and sharpen up his basic foot skills. I was however impressed by Tyson's vision, it tends to have improved, or at least his ability to look (and wait for best option) for the handball. He has clearly worked on his game over the summer, but still has A LOT to do IMO. Both Kennedy and Oliver looked for more effective (midfielders) than Tyson on the weekend. Kennedy looked more effective right away. Tyson is overrated on this forum, and generally by most people. He isn't a great midfielder, does have a lot of work to do, and I would drop him so he can do that work. He wasn't great on the weekend, and in truth, hasn't been great for a long while.
  20. I don't see anything wrong with it. Hopefully they extend her role (on some network) to match day gigs. I've about had enough of the Hamish McLaughlin types.
  21. Some calling for Pederson to be dropped, but giving Tyson another week. FMD.
  22. In: Brayshaw, Lumumba, Dunn. Out: Tyson, OMac, Frost.
  23. Not pot. But illicit drugs and other drugs that can potentially be used as masking agents.
  24. Geezus. That is a big lad. I hope he can play. What a unit.
  25. I agree with that. If Pederson keeps his form up, Dawes won't get a game ahead of him. Weideman is behind Dawes (I would've thought). I think Weideman plays the year in VFL unless - as you say - he absolutely bashes the door down. Light on frame though, I wouldn't be rushing him.
