A pass mark is our consistent effort throughout the year. Last year we didn't get belted as much, this year we need to continue to apply pressure at all times. Port are relentless with their pressure and run. Hopefully we can become that side this year. We shouldn't be thinking of the 8, we should be just thinking of winning the next quarter - and so on.

Ok sorry, I read that on big footy, that will serve me right. -
Christian Petracca - Season Ending Knee Injury
KingDingAling replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gee I hope Libba hasn't done an ACL, that would be a massive blow to the Bullies - and the kid himself. Apparently his old man did an ACL in his playing days - and returned 16 weeks later!! It appears to be an individual thing, some bounce back from an ACL like nothing happened, others never bounce back at all. Let's just hope Petracca is one of those guys who bounces back without missing a beat. We've seen players in the NFL return from these injuries in a relatively short time frame - with no on going problems. -

That is good, Jack Watts needs to start putting in a little bit more. He has all the tools to be an elite footballer. -
Players You Respect From Other Clubs

Gary Ablett Jr, Ollie Wines, Joshua Kelly, Tom Mitchell, Dustin Martin, Luke Parker, KK. -
How long? They are TOO long, there is no glory in being a 'March champion'. Waste of time, hopefully we don't blood too many players over this period. The new guys really need to ease into the season. There is a growing trend to push the young kids, but I'm not sure it is paying dividends.

Jeff Garlett Misses Court Appearance
KingDingAling replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't think he should be disciplined. He did do the wrong thing, but isolating a guy like Garlett won't end well. Club needs to support and embrace him, ask him why he didn't go to court - and help him in his future court appearances. Let's not forget that a large number of Australian men also lose their license and don't attend court, let's not treat Garlett like he is a criminal. He needs support, if there is one thing MFC did well with Liam Jurrah it was support him, some would say even enabled him - but our intentions were in the right place. -
On last years form Bernie Vince would get a game in Freo's midfield - or wouldn't be far off. Colin Sylvia cannot even make the bench. I think it's fair to say we've had a big win on this one. Roos pulled the right reign, 95% of the time Roos is spot on.

They should be eased in. Perhaps young Stretch might be ok (considering he was basically eased in), but the others should've been eased in. But that is the AFL environment, they'll only stop expecting so much when the trend continues to get bigger. Personally I think clubs should be putting a full year of strength work into draftees legs before they put heavy running workloads on them. -
Christian Petracca - Season Ending Knee Injury
KingDingAling replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
It won't be a blessing and it would've been better off not happening. But now that it has happened, he will be able to still gain a lot from the experience. It will make him better prepared - both mentally and physically, it will make him even more hungry. The injury will give him time to assess what it takes to be an AFL player from the inside and outside. He will get to spend a lot of time with Jack Trengove, a former captain and student of the game, this will benefit Petracca greatly. Spending time with Trengove will help his mindset, because Trengove has a point to prove himself. -

I almost forgot that Brendon Goddard also ruptured his ACL earlier in his career. He didn't lose anything from his ACL, he came back just as good. Adrian Peterson, an NFL player came back 8 months after an ACL to take out leagues best player, and nearly break the record in yards. -

Yep, the last player I'd want to do an ACL. I don't know of a player ever coming back better after an ACL. I agree with you, this news is tragic and there is no watering it down for me either. -
Christian Petracca - Season Ending Knee Injury

Hopefully it is a hyper extension. I've hyper extended my knee once and I could barely walk. Others say they have done an ACL and could walk So without scans we are all just speculating. -
I would at least like to hear the AFL mulling over ideas to suspend Essendon from the competition. One club is not bigger than the game, it might be time to think about cutting Essendon loose.

Add Luke Parker to that. Overlooking the Vic Metro Captain in Parker when we were a club deficient of leaders. I think to me that was the big one. Rockliff is every clubs mistake - bar one, and Sloane wasn't the player that he is today. Luke Parker was a big miss for this club.

Sylvia was servicable in his last few years at the club, I thought he was one of our better players. He can bounce back from this minor setback. It is only Feb for christ sakes.

On recent form, if fit I'd have him in Casey's best 18. Beyond that I am not sure. Trenners needs to seriously recapture his best form. I just can't see it happening anymore. He was a better junior than anyone on our list. Sad.

It isn't the interruption that is the problem, it is the possibility of getting re-injured due to Howe's playing style. So an injury like this isn't going to really affect Howe's performance in 2015, but it will increase his chance of re-injury, which will affect his games played. If he did re-injure, then I'd be worried. But as it stands, this isn't an issue.

That leadership group is just spot on. There is a massive difference between Paul Roos and Mark Neeld. Common sense has prevailed and older, experienced heads are leading MFC. Things are really looking up for our club. Now our young kids can focus solely on football - as it should be. These kids have a lot to learn, and they will do so without the distraction of leadership.

No, the mods don't need to crack the whip, the mods just need to let it go, they do a tremendous job. Let's not have Demonland regulated to the point of big footy - where indepent thought is frowned upon, and results in suspension. Demonland is a great place. The Devil Inside is an 'all time great' member, I am sure he will be ok. Thank you for the consistent reports TDI, they are much appreciated. -

That is the best news I've heard all summer. If Watts delivers on what I think he is capable of, that takes the pressure off a lot of players. I still think Jack Watts will be something special.- 115 replies

Why should he? He spend a fair chunk of his football career at the Adelaide Crows, that would mean a lot to him. I have no problem with this, in fact I like that Vince doesn't forget where he got his start. These players are people, not commodities. -
Talking point: the unevenness of the competition
KingDingAling replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
The comp is uneven, the only way for MFC to get on the better side of the equality debate - is to win games. IMO the past couple of years at the draft table have basically saved this football club. I think in a couple years MFC will be pushing for the 4. And the AFL can suck it. -
Mitch Clark is a hell of a footballer. It is possible the Cats will get a good year out of him at some stage - it is unlikely Clark will back that up. A quick glance through Clark's football record says that he has a hard time staying on the park. The extent that is even physical is questionable. IMO Mitch Clark always needs attention, no matter what. It wouldn't surprise me if Clark could be on the park much more than he has been.
