  1. Next year you can replace those names with Bugg and BenKen.
  2. When discussing the Rising Star, many on here talked about how the likes of Oliver and Petracca have a higher ceiling than Daniel. If either of them can reach the level that Daniel displayed last night, I would be rapt. He may not make the highlights reel often, but jeez he'll be good for a long time. Daniel is pure footballer in the Sam Mitchell mode.
  3. Caleb Daniel is a gun. Is so composed and doesn't waste a possession. Well done to Luke Beveridge. Never heard him complain about their constant injuries or use youth as an excuse for lack of effort. Hopefully Goodwin takes a leaf out of his book.
  4. Exactly right. You can't conclude from Generation dee's post that Hogan all of a sudden has become homesick. He may well have had doubts for over a year now, which is why he hasn't re-committed to the club and extended his contract already. Generation dee's post is more plausible than GNF's. We'll just have to wait and see who is correct.
  5. No he wouldn't. We don't have any midfielder on our list with remotely the same skillset of Wells. He's exactly the type of mid we need, but $550k per year for an injury prone 31yo is the sticking point.
  6. No exaggeration. When he's been on the park, he's been fantastic this year. But his injury history is the issue, and at 31, no thanks.
  7. Nah it's Paul, who's advised him to sign with Bermuda in order to avoid paying tax.
  8. Garland finished 7th last year, and the coaches haven't thought much of him since.
  9. And he left his home state to move to SA.
  10. Are you serious? 60% of clubs have tanked in one form or another. We got thrown under the bus unfairly. CC and bailey were made scapegoats. I hated it when we were tanking, but to say that CC shouldn't be allowed to comment on football is mind-numbingly stupid. Answer this. Should Bomber Thompson be allowed to comment on football given that he was part of something far more heinous than CC? Jakovich was correct in his response apart from getting personal. For this he's a moron.
  11. He might be a slider. I hear he carries a bit of baggage.
  12. You are misinterpreting what I'm saying. Your original response was "You say that as if it's easy". I'm saying that there are young untried ruckmen out there with more upside than Spencer, and I gave you examples of some who have been rookied recently.
  13. I don't care if Watts enjoys playing in the ruck, because he's not a long term solution. I brought up the names of Nankervis and Smith as being examples of players who have come off rookie lists in their early 20's. Naismith is another. Not necessarily saying that they would want to come to us, but there are young ruckmen out there with more upside than Spencer. Mitch King is probably another example.
  14. I'm not looking for a potential star, just someone who could offer more than Spencer going forward. Blokes like Nankervis (Swans) and Archie Smith (Brisbane) fit the bill.
  15. As WJ said, draft or trade in someone in their early 20's who has some upside to potentially play as a Forward/Ruckman. Spencer's ceiling is very low, and I doubt that he'll improve.
  16. Damn, I was hoping it was true. I thought we could do a straight swap Fyfe for Spencer. If Spencer has trade currency, it would make perfect sense to offload him. Offers little at AFL level.
  17. I've heard it all now. So I'm expecting to see in the team selections on Thursday night Out: Hogan (Broken Heart). Football clubs have all the support mechanisms to assist a player in this situation. Most footballers would seek solace by playing football or being around their football mates.
  18. Disagree. His career looked over when Lyon tried to play him as a forward, and he ended up getting dropped. Returned to the side as a midfield tagger, and started racking up huge stats as well as shutting down an opponent. If we got him, he'd be part of our midfield rotation.
  19. On natural talent, no, but Dangerfield didn't have the massive fitness question mark hanging over him like O'Meara. Dangerfield left Adelaide on good terms, and ensured that they got compensated. After what Tony Cochrane said, the O'Meara camp wouldn't give a rats about what GC get, and could readily walk into the PSD.
  20. To play as a permanent half forward is a tough gig for a young player. Lennon has some talent, and I suspect that his new club will groom him as a midfielder/half forward. Agree with McQueen. He could be part of the Prestia trade.
  21. I can't speak for the 800 odd players, but until an A Grade player nominates us as a preferred destination, there is no evidence that your statement is correct. In fact, we're still trying to get our highest profile player to extend his contract. Based on your beliefs, he should have re-signed ages ago. BTW, when we were a basket case under Neeld, we were still able to attract high profile players in Clark and Dawes. How things turned out with them is not relevant to your argument.
  22. There's no evidence of a high profile player nominating us as a preferred destination, hence you can't say that we've improved our attractiveness. Collingwood don't have a 1st round pick yet are gunning for O'Meara. There's always ways of getting the deal done, but you have to land the fish first.
  23. There's no evidence of that. And if a big fish did nominate us, we'd find a way to get the deal done.
  24. Dangerfield is pure power, whilst Hunt is pure speed.
  25. Regardless of which club O'Meara nominates, GC aren't going to win on the trade. In the position they're in, I'd say they'd prefer players to picks. They'll still get a 1st round pick for Prestia plus our pick for Weideman. Collingwood do have some depth of talent, so it wouldn't surprise me if a package of Oxley, Langdon and 2nd rd pick would get the deal done. Just remember what Geelong gave up for Dangerfield, because O'Meara's market value is about a third of the price.
