A number of posters have remarked about this kids huge talent, but watching those highlights - for the life of me I just can't see it. What are we not seeing in the 'highlights' video?

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here

No chance. Just saw Danger doing some safe driving commerical for Geelong. I wonder how much cash he's being paid for that..... -

Trading back into Round One or Top 10?
FireInTheBennelly replied to PaulRB's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm not sure where picks 50 and 70 came from, but if by some minor miracle we finished fourth next year the relevant picks would be 33, 51 and 69 wouldn't they? A combined points total of 871. I have no idea what they have coming through in the way of academy talent next year, but they could very well couple those picks up with their own picks for next year for a decent total that might save their 1st round pick. As far as vacancies go, I'm not sure how they look through the crystal ball to know what list vacancies they'll have this time next year. That rule can't apply to future drafts as there's no way of knowing. No doubt as soon as a team exploits this the AFL will shut it down somehow, I'd just like to be the team that thinks outside the box, as per Mahoney's last few years. I think this is the best way to get back into the 1st round this year (if that's what we wanted to do) without losing any of our talent. And if I was GWS (and they had serious academy talent coming through) I'd be doing everything possible now to stockpile picks for next year, considering they won't be able to do it next year due to the rule changes. -
Trading back into Round One or Top 10?

Or we trade next years 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks to GWS for one of their 1st rounders this year. -
Trading back into Round One or Top 10?

If we wanted to get back into the 1st round it can be done. I mentioned in the Trade Whispers thread, we could trade next years 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks, to an academy team looking to boost points for next year, for their first round pick this year. GWS have 23,000 early picks this year and can't possibly use them all so I think they're the logical target. The AFL closed the points loophole for the current years draft (after we exploited it), but haven't noticed the same loophole there for future trading (until we exploit it). -
I've never seen him play and know nothing about him. Many posters are saying he has talent, any more info? Is he the FWD/Ruck option we'd like?
-
Yes agreed. I think there's only one shot at it.

Ok so the AFL has closed the loophole around trading multiple later picks for an earlier pick to gain points for academy selections. This closure isn't possible however for future picks. The rules state if you trade away your future first round pick you can't trade any others. There are no rules around subsequent picks though. This means we could potentially trade next years 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks to GWS for a 1st round pick this year. This could be done with any of the 'academy' teams, I just used GWS as an example. Obviously whichever of those teams had the most/best academy kids would be our target. It woud leave us with a 1st round pick and two rookie upgrades for next year, but that's ok. So essentially the loophole is closed, but there's still potential for exploting the rules somewhat. What damage could we do with a 1st round pick this year?

Realistic Trade Week Results (Wish List)
FireInTheBennelly replied to GawnWithTheWind's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm not sure but I thought you could only trade one future pick per year? Otherwise I like it except that the GWS deal seems like a bit of a steal. I'd add in Scotty Thompson for experience and the team starts looking extremely good. -
THE BOMBERS' SWISS ADVENTURE
FireInTheBennelly replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is what I've been harping on about. These players will still be reaping the benefits of their cheating and should therefore not be allowed to remain at the club that instigated the whole mess. They should have all been forced out to other clubs. If no club wants them, [censored] em! -
Exactly. Realistically, if he's attending Caulfield Grammar he's nowhere near a GWS academy so they're teaching him nothing.. It begs the question, is there even a GWS academy, or do they simply sign up all the good local talent and then farm them out to the best footy schools? Sounds like a zone, not an academy. Thanks for updates BTW.

How is a GWS academy player in a Sandringham team? Do they just get access to anyone they want, anywhere?

THE BOMBERS' SWISS ADVENTURE
FireInTheBennelly replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'll be very upset if that's the case. I backed Cotchin at very good odds and am expecting a backdated payout. -
True, and I guess we should be backing them in. Has he ever been in a leadership group, I assume he must've been at the Aints?

Does he offer enough of the leadership that we need from experienced players?

Seems strange to me that if you're hoping a player sneaks through the draft without being picked that you'd go out and nominate them prior to the draft - alerting everyone to the fact.

Best hide the chopsticks....

He hits his targets well though. Has a very high CE% Chunder Efficiency.

What will Dusty do without his minder?

Thank [censored] that's done, now we can get into the real stuff. When's trade week?

Salem tackles Bartell, he drops it - player on. Immediately afterwards Bartell tackles Salem, he drops it - free kick

Last year Vs Crows Vince toweled up Danger, Vs Cats Viney beat Selwood. Crazy idea, let's not do either this time round. Bugger me.
