I thought this too initially, but the more I think on it, the more I like it. Yes, it was a throw away line from Lloyd, but that's not really how it's being reported. And if it was figurative, I don't mind if it means they have to correct themselves and be more literal, which would then become 'No, he hasn't cleaned out his locker because he's leaving.' Great, so what proof do you have he is still trying to get out. And I think the answer is none, or at least nothing new. For the record, I'm not one of those who thinks this whole thing is a media beat up. But I do think the last couples days has been them trying to keep this alive. And if this shot from Green makes it harder, good on him

Sounds like a metaphor to me, I.e. he's checked out and doesn't want to come back.

MFC 2024 BEST & FAIREST NIGHT
It was in relation to Daicos getting 38 brownlow votes and not winning. He then went on to say they Congratulate Pat Cripps for winning. It was a good moment from him, but unlikely to change Collingwood fan behaviour.

No I'm not. If you think the melts are limited to DL, that's definitely not the case

Have just listened to Max on Triple M this morning. He didn't say much, except that he'll support Clarry no matter what, but he did say he's sick of the leaking from the club and we need to get on top of it

MFC 2024 BEST & FAIREST NIGHT
The program may be closely scripted, but anytime you have a room full of unhappy supporters it's going to be unpredictable.

Cats will only pay full amount if draft cost is lower, or will only pay higher draft cost if Dees kick in some salary relief (duh). Cats biding their time, our public position on a trade hasn't changed, and we may still keep Oliver. He wants to leave but a trade will be hard. Any trade complicated by Smith trade

Can anyone summarise please? Is it the club urging him to attend?
-
Oliver Trade Rumours
Given they seem to be urging him to go to the BnF to potentially farewell the fans, you'd have to think it's not a positive outcome
-
Oliver Trade Rumours
Yep, it's a risk either way. I just think it's a greater risk offloading him and effectively admitting we are done contending for a while, than not.

Because, from the reports, the transgressions this year aren't to the same level as last. Are they isolated? Clearly not. But if he can have even the semblance of an uninterrupted pre-season, and get back to 80-85% of the player he was, you'll get much more for him than we will. The questions is whether it's worth it to stick with him for another 12 months. I think it is, others don't. That's fine. But if we trade him out without a quality replacement in the midfield, we might as well start the rebuild now.

But all this year did was tank his value. The choice is to move him out for chips now, or hope he can cash in on his seeming better attitude (but acknowledging its still not great) and doing a preseason to then trade him for at least some semblance of value. Unless he is having an absolutely toxic effect on the group, why would you throw him out for nothing? It will kill our list going forward

Sorry, but this is not a normal employer/employee relationship. Just offloading him for peanuts has the potential to set this club's list back years, and frankly I'm not interested in sitting where we were from 2007-2017 again. If the club believes they need to trade him, either it's for a decent return or we make it work for 12 mths and try to maximise his value. You don't just offload a guy to the detriment of your own position

Given the club said they didn't know about the meeting, I don't think Pert did. Geelong seems to be off Clarry's own bat, probably due to previous interest and an understanding that they could help support him with his issues.

Oliver Trade Rumours
Yep, get that. But given he is absolutely at his lowest market value, I think we need to suck it up and keep assisting him. He's clearly made progress, and while it might be something that needs managing going forward, I think the upside is worth it

My issue with the Clarry situation: Geelong aren't courting him if they think he's cooked. They clearly believe, with the right support around him, he can return to at least 90-95% of the player he was, which is still one of the best in the comp. Which means either a) we don't or b) we won't or can't put that same support around him. If it's a, fair enough. But it sounds more like b. And I have no interest in watching him get back to his best anywhere but Melbourne, simply because we won't put any more time or effort into it. We don't go close to winning the flag without a fit and firing midfield, and a fit Clarry is still a key part of that. No draftee, short of a Daicos or Reid type (of which Ashcroft is the only one this year), will help fill that void. If we trade Clarry, we might as well admit we've given up on the next 2-3 years, which means on May, Gawn, Viney and probably Trac's time, and get started on a full rebuild. It's time for the club to shut up, get its [censored] together (including at board and executive level) and knuckle down for a huge preseason.
