I love how some say I would take him for the right price but not many say what that is. I like him but a fair price for a 30 year old back men in contract will be hard to come up with.

Moneyball is risk versus reward. Dawes aside what did Pederson, Byrnes, Rodan and Gilles cost us?

Mature players with speed who can carry the ball. Anyone seeing a theme? More than I thought we would get. Will improve our side.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good size and speed, kicks like T-Mac but plays more to his limitations. Has good upside and fills a need. Keen to see what the cost but we could push through tp PSD if they ask for overs. -
where and how quick can we sign.

Well done Jack. Jack is going to be very up and down in performance until his body maturity and endurance capacity catches up with the manic way he plays. I too also think this affects his disposal and decision making and this will improve with time. In three years he will be an absolute jet and we will see more and more snippets of this along the way.

I don't think he'd be high on our list but you never know. I have not seen him play and truthfully carving it up in the NEAFL makes it hard to judge.

How long was Voss, apprenticeship and who did he do it under?
-
2 premierships, 5 times all australian, club captain as player, then 4 years at Essendon with the last under the close mentoring of Thompson. Pretty good CV for me. I don't understand why people would have issue.

That is appalling. Someone was given way too much creative licence. I guess its hard to put players actually playing in it when everyone is tradeable

Melbourne Football Club Take Note
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am not saying Wines was not going hard but he kicked at less than 50% and his two immediate opponents were the highest possession getters for the opposition and from my view joint BOG at that time. If you're not stopping your man and when you do get the ball your handing it back then it doesn't say much. This is no slant on his effort or his second half which was excellent but moreso those on here who look at everything he does with rose coloured glasses. -
Melbourne Football Club Take Note

How many big bodied mids do Port have? I agree we need one more but we more so need hard running class on the outside so I would be looking for the one that has the best balance of both. This is more the Port model. That is why as you stated Shiel should be the main target, even if this means pick 2. FWIW Wines played a great second half but his first half was rubbish filled with turnovers and his direct opponents in Neale then Fyfe getting off him way too easily. I was amazed the amount of people lauding his performance at half time. -
Has pace and good defensive application. Played as a small forward but could be switched to half back which I think he played a lot in juniors. Also not surprising he is on our radar as his best game of the year was an 18 disposal, 8 tackle, 2 goal effort against MFC.

GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Fremantle parted with Pick 55 to get Gumbleton. Even with history of mental illness you can't tell me clubs won't pay more for Clark. -
GOODBYE MITCH CLARK
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Paul Roos stated when Clark retired we lost arguably our best player. No disrespect but I don't think there was any argument. If we don't want him something is not right. I would be very disappointed if Clark chose to go elsewhere to re-start. If he wanted to be at MFC and we have chosen not to have him I think an explanation from the club will be required to members. All those that think it will be awful to see him back in other colours at least consider that if so it will be via trade. -
Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to M_9's topic in Melbourne Demons
No disrespect to Jones but I don't think it is that clear cut. Still think he will win but thought his year was better last year and we had more players who consistently did their job and did it well this year. Dunn would have been in AA squad contention at that point of season. Jetta was rarely beaten all year. T-Mac was rarely beaten aside from the damage he did off his own boot. Tyson's 8-10 best games this year would be the best impact of a mid at Melbourne in many years. Particularly with a new coaching panel its hard to know how they are judged and what is expected. I do find Vince polling so well surprising as I thought he was serviceable but I expected more. -

Nathan Jones not named in AA 40
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Ted Lasso's topic in Melbourne Demons
Liberatore is the number 1 clearance player in the league. Jones stats stack up well but his impact on games was bigger last year. Those that expected him to get in need to remove the rose coloured glasses. -
Carlton pair on the move?
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Questions you should ask when evaluating any player that we will look to trade in. Can they play midfield? Do they run both ways? Can they execute decision making and skills? If your answer to any of these questions is no strike them off your list. -
'Every player is tradeable'
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
If you're not a true key position player and are not a midfielder then you are in strife I think. Howe, Watts, Grimes spring to mind for the right value. I expect Toumpas and Trengove potential upside versus trade value will see them retained. -
There has to be a morning after ...
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Its impossible to argue that we haven't improved. Wins, percentage, possession differentials all clearly point to this. The debatable point is whether the amount of improvement and the way we got there is to people's expectations. The key factor that we had to remove was massive losses and how quickly people forget we lost 12 games by 60+ last year. I stated this year that I just wanted to go to the football and feel we were in it to the end. Whilst we struggled to get the four points in most we were in it in more than half our games deep into the last. The offensive side of our game or lack thereof is where most will agree we were disappointed but how different that may have looked if we had our two main targets in Hogan and Clark at least in part. I think the other hope was that Roos would do wonders with our players who had stagnated under previous development. Jetta and Pederson aside you could argue that no miracles worked on those we hoped and the improvement came from those we brought from outside or those that were already on an upward development arc. I have no doubt we will make some hard decisions over the offseason and not all will be to everyones liking but I have faith that we are on the right path. Some astute trading and drafting and full seasons from some who missed and we will see some serious improvement. I was over 2014 but already cannot wait for 2015. -

For risk to reward for us it has to be the form of Tyson. For warming the cockles of my heart it has to be Jetta. -
