Not sure if anyo of you saw him play last season when Sandilands was injured, but Warnock was more than up to the task

At 206cm, I cna only drool as the though of him at the MFC.

We are talking a legit ruckman, the kind we havent had at the club sincr Stynes (yes I know White is legit, but he was 195cm)

I couldn't help but be impressed with our Warnocks game on Sunday. One game doesn't make a career, but I thought he showed quite a bit, especially with the ability to hit targets. I, like many thought he wasn't going to cut it, but if he was to continue in that manner and become a solid AFL player, then the attraction for his brother to come to us would be even more so.

I like the idea of Warnock and Natanui leading our ruck in the coming years.

Yeah, I was pleased with Matty Warnock's efforts up in Brisbane.

I have to confess - when I saw number 37 on the field I did a thorough double-take because the talk for a while has been that he is gone, and probably wouldn't play another AFL game. But he did alright on Sunday. And looking back over the recent Sandy reports, he's been pretty solid.

It'd be great if he could consolidate, he is still young for a tall, after all. It's also not as if we'll be desperately trying to find extra players to delist come years end.

Bringing in the Freo Warnock would seem reasonable - if they're not even giving the poor bugger a game they would probably be comfortable trading him for, I dunno, CJ? (You never know your luck, it is Fremantle after all!).

If we do end up with the no 1 pick in preseason draft, it'd be handy pressure on the trade. Of course, ultimately it'll have to be used to pick up Ben Cousins for a comeback tour. ;)

At this stage, each Warnock brother is on about the same odds of playing for MFC next year!

The Naitanui vs Rich debate is going to be an interesting one to watch.

Warnock looks a likely sort, only problem is his brother will probably get the axe at seasons end, so there is one less reaosn for him to come.

Also, I have heard whispers of a few unhappy players around looking for a fresh start, including Brisbane's Troy Selwood. I am not saying Selwood would be picked over Warnock (robbie warnock has a big upside being a 21 year old ruckman- plus this allows us to trade Jamar and Delist Meesen), my point is there could be some REAL talent in the PSD. We hould get the best player in the PSD, that could be anyone by seasons end ( i bet carlton couldn't believe their luck when they landed Nick Stevens, what fortune will roll our way?)

By the way, if the Tiggies are keen for a ruckman, I am sure we could offer them one.

With the rules changing for this year, uncontracted players are now able to nominate for the national draft and don't have to solely nominate for the PSD so players now have this option..

Who would though? I can see it now; Robbie Warnock nominates for the national draft so he can get home to Victoria, and gets picked up by Brisbane.

The PSD is a much, much safer bet, particularly in this instance.

I thought that players have always been able to nominate for both drafts.

Pretty sure the rule was that if you were already on a list (but not under contract), you could only nominate for the PSD. Previously you could not nominate for the ND until your club had delisted you.

I think you may have been able to if delisted early enough - ie. first set of delistings rather than the third. It was all about the nomination date.

Laycock is a lazy footballer. i have some essendon mates who absolutely hate him. we don't want him.

I've got bomber mates who would agree with that as well but the reason why they hate Laycock is because thry can see the talent yet he doesn't produce it week in week out.

I'm not saying we should offer anything large for Laycock but i'll give up the pick we used for Meesen any day.

I've seen him play cracking games as the number one ruck but once Hille steps on the field, he's lost.

Pretty sure it was just that you had to have been delisted by nomination date, yep. Simple logic really. Delisted? Yes: then you can nominate, No: you can't.

bool canNominate = delisted ? true : false

For the geeks among us ;)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
