Judd = 23

Nick Stevens = 29/30 and overweight

the rest of Carlton's onballers are as young, if not younger than Melbourne's (ie Bryce Gibbs, Marc Murphy etc)

Fat Nick took three bounces down the members wing, ran hard, looked around at least four times and kicked to a target. Goal at the Punt road end.

Credit where credit's due. The guy's a very good footballer and he was instrumental in a lot of centre clearances.

When we have an overweight midfielder with the same skills I'll be celebrating.

Frawley did some nice things and HE CAN HIT A TARGET OMG!

I felt so sorry for him when he outplayed Fevola only for Fevola to kick a miracle goal off the ground. Poor kid.

He has to stay in the side without a doubt. Reminds me a bit of Rivers with some of his spoils.

I was actually wrapt when he was given a run on Fev late in the game. As much as a I hate Fev (totally unlikeable human being IMO) I can not fault the example he set today for second efforts and backing himself (i.e. makes his own luck).

And how well were they going before Judd came along to take the heat away from them?

At least they have Stevens and Judd in there helping them along, as well as Scottland.

Besides, Murphy and Gibbs hardly play at the bounce for the whole match and they are not the main ball winners.

You're arguing in Jaded's favour there, not against her. Judd and Stevens are their #1 and #2. The likes of Gibbs, Murphy et al get the luxury of playing "secondary" roles. It allows them to learn their craft and play good footy (very good in the case of Murphy, the guy is an absolute gun) without being 100% in the cauldron. McLean and Jones are our #1 and #2. If they have poor games, then we lose in the midfield. It's a lot of pressure on two young blokes and IMO they do a good job under the circumstances.

mclean outplayed judd today

Sorry, no he didnt, he played well, and had more touches, but sorry to say Judd was far more dangerous..

Considering McLean was playing as an offensive opponent to Judd (i.e. going head to head as opposed to tagging) I thought he was pretty good. He was easily our best player in the middle, and at least made Judd work for a lot of his possessions, particularly in traffic where Judd excels. Offensively he was not as good as Judd, but that's because he isn't as good a player as Judd.

Saying he "destroyed" Judd is absolute rubbish, but so too are the claims that he had a poor game just because Judd had a good one.

    UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

    Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
