Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Did anyone hear Grant Thomas on SEN this morning saying he had heard rumours of issues within the side and that Brad Green was thinking of leaving at years end along with Silvia who wanted to go to Adelaide (we can only hope)...both wouldn't be worth more than a 2nd rounder IMO...thoughts?

There is no way in hell Sylvia would want to go to Adelaide. He's dumb, but he's not toally stupid; do you know how hard Neil Craig trains the crows?

Sylvia and Green wanting out (And I don't doubt it) is testimony to their attitude towards a team sport which neither of them will ever exceed at at the highest level.

If they think they will walk into other clubs, they've got tickets on themselves. They are playing for their careers!

I can count on my fingers the number of great games between them.

I just hope someone is stupid enough to give us something (Anything?) for them.

Maybe trade the 2 in the one trade to get a higher pick.

I too will do anything to assist where possible.

Sounds like crap to me. When things go wrong everyone sticks the boots in. It is easy to put the boots in when you are down - and that is what Thomas is doing.

IMO Green is a good footballer and has plenty of experience which we cannot afford to lose at the moment.

Sylvia has been a disappointment to date but he has had a good pre season. I think the team will improve immeasurably when Bate, Dunn, Whelan, Rivers and Moloney have a few games under their belts - and i think then we will see the best of Col and Brock.

I'd treat this with the same contempt I'd treat most of what Thomas says!

His "rumour" probably comes from the newspaper article he read about Green being disappointed about being left out of the leadership group, and Sylvia being disappointed he let himself and teammates down by missing round 1!

For what it's worth, I like both players.......no way in hell I would be letting Sylvia go.....one of the few genuine talents on our list, just has to get his act together, and he eventually will ala Steve Johnson from the Cats.

I like Green too, however if the right deal came along, he is one of those players we may have to make a tough decision on.

If Sylvia and green are thinking of jumping ship because things are getting hard, that says plenty about their character. To be considered a great player, you need to rise above it and help the club build some forward momentum. If what Grant thomas says is true, you can strip them of their jumpers right now. If you don't bleed red and blue when you are out there as an much loved player for our club, then they can [censored] right off. I like both the guys and think they still have value, but if they want to go all "scott thompson" on us and leave, the door will be open at seasons end.

I have not given up on any of our list just yet, but I sure as hell am asking some questions like everyone else.

Melbourne have a good reputation of getting rid of players which still turnout good footballers, Examples Troy Simmonds would be pretty handy right now, Farmer would be handy in our forward line, Woey, Spalding good enough for a Carlton Premiership side, Brian Wilson,Armstrong, just to name a few.

Melbourne F.C maybe aren't developing there players enough, why give Sylvia away to become a gun at another club. I think we are behind alot of the clubs in this area for the fact we don't have a proper training facility

Simmonds is not a star. A good player, but not a star. We got a good deal for him, but sadly used the trade to gain Ellis.

Farmer wanted to go home. We did everything we could to keep him. Same goes for Thompson, who is the only real star we've let go lately.

Armstrong was never a star. As for Woey, his career went down quicker than the Titanic after we traded him. Bell is still developing nicely.

So lets stop with this myth that we've traded away stars. If anything, we haven't traded enough mediocre players and it is now costing us big time. We just don't know when to cut our loses.

I heard the original clip and Thomas said that Sylvia almost went to Adelaide in LAST YEARS trading period.

FWIW I rate Thomas' media work. He doesn't hold back, like many so called experts do.

In an article on the MFC site I read White say there was no fracture in the team, and hadn't been in the time he'd been there. When I read the comment, I didn't know what he was referring to, but perhaps it was this.

I wouldn't use the term mediocre, but yes, I agree.

Green's good enough to play in a premiership team, and would find a spot on another AFL list if he was available.

Sylvia's ridiculously over-hyped on this site. That said, he may turn out to be a good footballer, but could just as easily be a 'coulda-been' - and sooner, rather than later.

I heard the call; it was from some ignoramus that said we should trade Green and let Sylvia go back home to Adelaide. Sylvia hails from Bendigo.

People have to start making distictions between players we wanted to keep and players we didn't want to keep when discussing who we have traded. Simmonds requested a trade, Farmer's wife wanted to go home to Perth and he was about to be out of contract. Wilson retired and was talked back into playing by St Kilda; we certainly got the best of him. We traded Spalding because his position was about to be occupied by Schwarta. Armstrong was delisted, a fair enough decision.

One that you haven't mentioned and who always seems to crop up is Scott Thompson; Melbourne were desparate to keep him, he was desparate to go back to South Australia and requested a trade to either Adelaide club. As he was about to be out of contract, we did the best we could.

Sylvia is not in out best 30. The games I've seen him play at Sandy have been awful. and probably the worst thing he did was at the Dome against the Bulldogs, puncturing Fergies lung and thus ending his career at Melbourne.

As for Green, he picks up his 20odd possession game but doesnt 'hurt' the opposition

Nonsense...in a quality side Green would kick 80 goals in a season and Sylvia is the next Judd.

Any opposition recruiting officers could do worse then trade us Glass, Harley and Johnathan Brown for these two.

Honest Injun

Can you show me where I can sign off on this ??

Green would probably do much better , yes, with a better feeding system. He needs to work harder and cleverer ( sic ) he needs to step up.. he's coasting.

Ol' Hi-Ho may be yet one of thsoe " had talent ...never applied it " type sceanrios.

id like Col to grow up.. and realis ehis ability..But I shallnt hold breath waiting.. Either he starts stringing together gamesoor id happily trade him...and Green at EOS !!

Potential is one thing...actualisation is another !! ;)

Thoughts?

I wish it were true, take him off our hands Adelaide, he hasn't shown anything in 4 years due to both injuries but more importantly lack of professionalism. He continues to let us all down and disrespect the club that gave him a shot in the AFL, it's like having a 2 year old with chronic groin injuries on our list. He better do something pretty special soon or he will be traded or delisted at years end.

Thoughts?

People allways say things just like this when their down & frustrated, those type comments are usually shallow & based in hurt & confusion.

If I was in his shoes, I imagine the pressure he feels from peoples comments relating to their disappointment in his efforts over the last couple of seasons must be extremely insulting to a proud athlete like him.

Lets get off his back & give him some support & try to help him along his path of recovery!

He is one of the few who are chasing, tackling hard & winning contested footy for the good of the team!

Their is a lot of wide recievers out there @ the moment going no where near a contest let alone chasing hard or tackling for fa#cs sake.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
