Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Casey Fields or Olympic Park ???

Can anyone tell me why we are now talking about Casey Fields when were about to move to Olympic Park. Is it just while were waiting for them to finish Oly Park ??? Anyone Know ? Thanx.

As I understand it, Casey Fields is being looked at as a summer pre-season training venue rather than hopping from ground to ground. Olympic Park is still on as our home & our training venue during the season.

Has it been spelt out what exactly we will have at Olympic park???????

Will there be weight training rooms? Will there be an oval to train on cos I don't think the Dees, Storm and soccer will all be training on a game day surface which leaves Goshes paddock along with the Woods?

Is it a bit like the GST where you don't get the full details till too late? Tax on petrol? We can't drop that to 10% it's not a tax it's an excise!

Football ground? You can't train here, you'll wreck the surface, go train on the corner of Punt Rd!

That’s right – that is the current proposal of MFC. Summer training base at Casey Fields, with admin at the Rectangular Stadium all the time and the football operations there during the football season.

Indoor training facilities and admin facilities at the Rectangular Stadium. No access to playing field, which is the wrong shape anyway.

Outdoor training at Gosch's Paddock, or at an oval Eddie McEverywhere wants to build in place of the Olympic Park aths track (ie between Lexus Centre and the Rectangular Stadium). I think the athletes have different ideas though, so it'll probably be Gosch's Paddock only.

It is hardly ideal for the winter base either having the outdoor training surface a few hundred metres trot up Swan Street, and then having to share with the Magpies. Imagine the timing clash ahead of Melbourne v Collingwood games.

Perhaps Casey Fields is a better permanent option than the Rectangular Stadium!

When you consider all of the other advantages of being located in a growth corridor, I’m not too sure what the advantage of being based at the Rectangular Stadium is anyway. Being able to see the MCG is hardly worth paying all that rent for!

Melbourne is not a powerhouse club, dripping in finance. It needs to re-establish itself in modest lodgings, and spend any spare cash on its football department – not on rent to be part of an ill-fitting soccer/rugby ground.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Once you dispense with inner city sentimentality, having Casey as a permanent training venue makes a heck of allot more sense.

Not likely, we are the Melbourne Football Club, not the 'middle of f%#king no-where' football club. Casey Fields is fine as a summer training base, but a permanent move to be based there, no way!! The club has put too much money into the Olympic Park project to pull out now.

Agree. If it wasn't for the two year delay in building the thing we wouldn't even be talking about Casey and 'growth corridors'.

The Red and Blue Foundation holds a Deed of Trust, registered with the Australian Sports Foundation Ltd (ASF). The ASF was established by the Australian Government to assist the development of sport in Australia. Donations to the ASF are tax deductible and supporters simply name the Red and Blue Foundation as their preferred beneficiary.

The Club is committed to raising $4 million for the fit-out of our new home, and the purchase of state-of-the-art training equipment. The Foundation has undertaken to raise $2,500,000 and the balance - $1,500,000 - has been provided by the Australian Football League.

$2.5 million to be raised. Not yet raised, and certainly not yet put in!

And, just maybe, fortune has instead smiled on MFC in the form of the delay instead of being caught up in an ill-fitting Rectangular Stadium where MFC would just be a filler tenant.

Cranbourne shouldn't be too much of a hassle, most of our players live in Bentleigh(possibly a generalisation). All for going there in the summer, maybe do what the Hawks have done in Waverley in terms supporter bases.

But Melbourne FC should be based in the city, but if rent gets too heavy i'm sure Casey would spend a bit on facilities (I hear they're pretty good anyway) to accomodate us.

As an aside, who gives a flying F if our training facilities and office are in a rectangular stadium. We don't train on it FFS. It will be a similar setup to Collingwood - and how are they going at the moment?

Last time i looked . Hawthorn wasnt in Waverley.. Stkilda wasnt in Frankston...apparently Collingwood has moved too ...lol

For the purposes of the exercise...define Melbourne as being the territory of the MFC ?

Id rather they were in Casey than the Gold Coast !! ;)

i'd be very disappointed if we moved into casey completely... and to be honest, once the new stadium is completed, i don't think we should train there at all...

all our great facilities will be at the olympic park precinct, we will have an oval that is available 12 months of the year which eliminates the need for a summer training base... richmond are training in cragieburn over summer because the cricket club play cricket at punt road over summer... why would we want to downgrade over summer?

if you ask me the MFC are playing this really well... we need a training base now, and casey will give us that... we're throwing the idea of moving there permanently to get the best deal for us over the next two years, till our stadium is ready, then we're out of there...

If we were supposed to be at the Olympic stadium now, but not due to delay, then how come we cant use the Goshs Paddock now! Many people on here seem to think its almost a given to train there when we do get into the Olympic stadium???

I get the feeling we will still not have a year round training base.

I must confess I only have gut feeling on this but everything about bubbledome seems so far to be smoke and mirrors. It was supposed to be part of the you beaut ( and I was on banddwagon I admit ) team-Melb...and hasnt that beena roaring success.

At the end of the day what really is Bubbledome to us. Its an Office..with some shared facilities.. Gym, recovery etc.. and a walk down the road to a paddock !!. Yes it looks at the G..but its not the G. Its a place to train

Casey will give us that during summer and the other ood times we want/need to go elsewhere.. I really cant see a down side to a new MCG...thats Melbourne's Cranbourne Ground !! :) :D ;)

Let's not get too het up about this. The Olympic Park precinct will be our permanent home. Collingwood are negotiating to kick out Athletics Australia, or rather bribe them out. This will get them the oval that they desperately want - Edwin Flack Field. They will immediately rename it Bob Rose Oval; Eddie is still carrying a large grudge.

This will leave us Gosch's Paddock which we will have to share with the Storm. Actually there are two ovals there, that shouldn't be a huge issue. Victory play over summer. The Storm and Victory may even get to train in the new stadium, we will have nothing to do with it apart from our digs which will be in its surrounds.

This is all very fine apart from a few weeks in January when the tennis is on. To have another, permanentlt available, venie in the biggest growth area in Melbourne is a great move. Richmond have unfettered access to Punt Road Oval, but that hasn't stopped them from securing a summer training facility at Craigeburn.

A large part really.

And Demonology/Demonland has been apart of it - which is fantastic.

See the 150 Club thread at the top of the board to see how you can help the club reach its goal and get rid of its 'nomadic' tag.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
