Spine tingling memories- I was there!

Trouble is we need them in the middle as well and Green has lost that high goal kicking conversion percentage he used to have.

One of my most memorable Melbourne matches. Up there with the final win against Carlton in the first round of the finals in 94 and that win against the Eagles at Subi in 98 (which I was at. Arrived at quarter time).

As for Green in the forward line, too late. He isn't developed as a FF, like he should have been under Daniher. Too bad Danners was a sap and was too dumb to realise the kid had the best kick in the league.

As for Bruce, he sprays too many kicks to have to rely on in the forward line. His set-shot is shocking. He needs to be in and around packs and an extra man across the half-back line. Keep him as far away from the forward line as possible.

2005/06 Green and Bruce were rotated between midfield and HFF, they both would kick 2 gaols and pick up 25-30 possies. That was one of the best combos we've had imo. I would love to bring that back!

yep i was there too. those two kids got us in the grand final.. ah memories.. when you look back at that team there isn't exactly a glut of stars.. something just worked. Farmer - Neitz - Powell - White - McDonald -Green - Woewodin were our best players.. I can't remember who else.. Schwarz? The big OX was more of a bulldozer than a footballer at that stage.. I can't remember WHO played in our backline..

I call bullsh*t. A bloke like Green lives for kicking goals. He is hungry for it but has been stifled for years not playing up forward. He would be biting at the bit to have a crack at the big sticks. You don't foget how to kick goals. Take possesion - Mark or loose ball get or handball recieve. No different than any other position, present into space, run hard. Hell he may even create some pressue for the opposiotion backs (something we have lacked except for Davey and now Newton a bit)

FFS he aint going to be Full Forward maybe a Forward pocket. I believe given extended opportunity he will explode in a goal scoring frenzy that will rival the explosion in my jim-jammies come September.

Crap we need Green in the middle! He is and always has been a natural forward pocket. The other poster was right, Daniher really did a number on this guy's career. After this 2000 season I always thought Green was going to be the next Matty Lloyd (without the diving and cheating tactics). Instead like every good forward we seem to bring through, they end going into the midfield wilderness and become average squad players.

We have the cattle in the midfield now to not need to use Green in there. Blokes like Brock, Jones, JMac, Sylvia, Moloney, and even Bruce are all better in the guts than Green.

Put him back in the forward line Bails!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
