Weetra, what should we expect?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, what should we expect from Weetra, is he a likely prospect for seniors this year?

I've never seen the bloke play, is there anyone on our list you could liken him to? Did he play any games for the sandy seniors this year? What position?

I remember reading a bit about him when we drafted him but can't say i know to much about him.

I dont even know what he looks like, but just the fact that we have a young Aboriginal kid buried down the bottom of our list is enought o excite me

And he has a cool name

Hopefully Bailey can unleash him

you must love the essendon list then...

True... the aboriginal flag is a permanent fixture in the essendon cheer squad.

Can't wait for one to appear in the MCC.

Nah

Weetra woud have been selected based on ability

Over at Essendon, they just draft you cos you are Aboriginal

I havnt seen him play, but for anyone who has:

* Has he improved much since the start of the year (or since his first game, since I hear he was injured for a while)?

* What do you think he'll have to do next year to keep his place on the list? Do you think getting a regularly place in the Sandy 1s will be enough, or will he need to start really impacting games in the Sandy seniors and be pushing for a spot in the Melbourne squad by the end of the year?

* Assuming he makes it, what sort of player would you liken him to? If he does make it, will he fill any holes in the Melbourne list?

From the waist down he looks a little like Travis, but with hairy legs. He's got that bandy legged thing happening.

Hope that helps. :)

Weetra will be tested in the 08 season. Bailey will put every kid on the roster to the test. If Weetra is going to be any good, we will get an idea come preseason.

He will be tested preseason, and if he puts in a good showing he might be a chance ot play a few senior games of footy.

This stage last year everyone was talking about Bode.

Towards the end of the year he showed us something, and I expect Weetra to do the same in 08.

He was drafted as a bottom age player, had an interrupted pre season and missed most of the first half of 2007 with injury. He had a couple of really good games with the Sandy reserves but looked all at sea when he was called up to play his only senior game for Sandringham. He'll be starting from scratch again next year and I suspect he might have to spend more time at VFL reserves level before he gets a call up for the seniors at Sandy. Look for him in red and blue in 2009 if at all.

Considering his progression this year, Weetra's way back in the queue.

As Whispering Jack said, I wouldn't be expecting too much next year when it comes to MFC appearances.

I hope we never have one, we are supporting the MFC not the aboriginal flag, just the same if we had a pom or german i would not want there flags either.

What about a China's flag?

What about a China's flag?

if we did find some players in china that we would like to turn into footy players..how do we get them into out side, as rookies or in the PSD, are there tricky rules/regulations for stuff like this?

  • 4 weeks later...

Saw a picture of him at training and he looks as though he might have filled out a bit since he came to the club which is good because he needed it.

LOL at a China's flag!

I'm sure we would have add the occassional Irish flag appear in the crowd once upon a time.

I think kept flags away from the cheersquad but in stadium can't be an issue.

Improvement.
