Yeh rivers is important..but pick 10 is high and brent reilly is a beautiful user of the footy. better than most in our team..almost the best in fact. goddard like.

Rivers is too important to trade.

Simple as that, but don't undersell Reilly.

He's Cam Bruce with a decent kick. And he can get his own ball.

You know what, he's better than Cam Bruce.

Jared Rivers is a very similar player to Ryan Ferguson. Both couragous both great at reading the play both good third man up in defence. However I think that the team can only support one of these players.

Reily and Meesan were first round draft picks in 2001 and 2004. One is a quick skillfull defender, the other a highly rated ruckman, both of which we need. Jared Rivers wanted to go home a few years ago and if that is still the case I would jump at the opportunity particularly if pick 10 was thrown in, with the proviso that Meesan and Reily were sound in body and mind.

Demons4eva, are you for real. For starters, Rivers is 100 times the player Ferg is. Rivers holds our defence together. We simply cannot afford to lose him under any circumstances.

Reilly - "a quick skillful defender...which we need" - We have plenty of good small defenders (Bartram, Petterd, Whelan, Wheatley, Bell) and players like Reilly are in abundance in the AFL. What we really need is key defenders, and a hell of a lot more than small defenders.

I don't know where you heard rivers wanted to go home a few years ago because I'm pretty sure he never said anything like that and never sought a trade.

We are getting Meesan any way. No matter what Adelaide try to do we have the upper hand and really have no obligation to offer them anything for him so he should not be considered in this situation.

I find it astonishing how low you rate Rivers. Maybe I overrate him a little (I wouldn't trade him for anything less than the first pick in this draft) but IMO he is our most important player and our defence was a mess this year without him. And you only have to look as far as the premiers to see how important a good defence is.

He's soft. I don't want Reilly.

In a supposed weak draft Pick 10 + Reilly for our most important defender? Hell no. Rivers will be a star.

Well they are both tall defenders I guess. However the former is a 23 year old good potentially great player the later a 26 year old fringe player.

I stopped reading there.

Seriously, GTFO, Ferguson doesn't compare to Rivers shoelace...

we lose rivers we can kiss 08 and 09 out the door. I recon rivers is the most important player in our defence and have believed this for a few years now. He has the skill and midset to be as prolific as Chad Cornes. Frawley is a few years away still and when frawley comes to age, think that he can take CHB and a quality player like rivers can be a lose player. Not many teams have that option of having such a great player to beunmarked and if teams were to mark Frawley and Riv up, they would require 2 A grade defenders. I wouldnt trade rivers for pick 1. He doesent wanna leave melb yet and when he gets firing his price tag will increase hence if we ever trade him. End of discussion

i think people are underating Reilly here he had a few monster games over 30 touches this year and is very skilfull.... but yeh key defenders don't grow on trees so you'd have tor refuse... but pick 10 and reilly from the crows isnt exactly an insulting offer either....

hoping we get pick 14 for trav, keep Cj, get Meeson with a 4th rounder... that is probably all that will happen with us

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
