CAC and Bailey can make all the decisions they like. It doesn't mean that you can't point out the fact that Miller has not progressed in 3 years.

Seriously Newton is 4 yrs younger than Miller and has already shown more. I know that Newton has been placed on a pedastal but in all seriousness it isn't without grounded fact.

He can take a pack mark (boy, can he!).

He trusts his kicking.

He can actually kick.

And he's got a footy brain, something that Miller (a man-boy from Mt.Gravatt in Qld) never had.

I'm a big Juice fan, and agree with most of the above, but I'm still unsure about his footy brain, looks a little lost at times IMO...

CAC has been quoted as stating we'll offer Adelaide our 3rd round pick, yeah.

Jamar worth more than a 3rd round pick? Apparently so.

I guess ruckman take a while to develop, and this year's draft is apparently 'weak'.

Yes definately, to us atm. He's the closest thing we've got to a King or a Keating or a Lade & kills them all with the high mark stakes. It's way too early to give up on him.

Jamar only plays 50 minutes a game, so how the hell do we know what he is really capable of? I remember games where whity sat out with shin problems, and the Russian set the world on fire for an 8 week stretch. I am not saying the Russian is a great ruckman, however I rate him above some of the other goons trotting around on other lists.

ANyone under the age of 26 should be given a run under baily to see what they can do. If Jamar can't do anything under baily, he will be traded in 12 months, or delisted at the end of his contract. I think Jamar will thrive under a new coach, we will wait and see.

Just on Meeson, should be a bargain pickup for pick 38. Top 10 draft pick a few years back (pick 8 if my memory serves me correct), and at 21 years old his best is yet to come.

When did he set the world on fire 8 weeks in a row?

We all hope that a hell of a lot of our players should get a new lease on their footy lives under Bailey......

Nearly all our players have only ever had one coach, and despite our somewhat inflexible opinions on some of these boys we actually have no idea what a new coach with new ideas, a new approach, new demands and techniques as well as everything else that he could bring in will do for them.

I am not certain about a two year deal for Jamar or anyone else who we have had on the skids in here, twelve months would seem fine for now.

But one thing I am certain of and agree with Wrathchild on, is the above statement that those under 26 (or even 25 if you are going to be picky) for the most part will and probably should get another season for our new coaching department to see what they can and can't do with them, and to make absolutely certain before delisting or trading them away that they have no future under this regime. After all he has to see them and coach them to make a totally informed decision.

And this is something that despite all the posturing and overblown negative opinions in here, we actually have no idea about.

Once again, I agree. You can't turn over half your list, and it's better to offload older guys, who aren't likely to contribute to our next Premiership team, rather than 25 and unders.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
