Just as interesting was Scott Burns comments that he'd be reluctant to break up a cohesive group by trading players for picks to be used to get Judd.

Maybe the Pies over inflated sense of self worth might come in handy for once!

Don't rule out trades to make trades; trading names to get picks to trade to the Eagles.

To be honest though, and I'm not just saying this, I personally think it will get to a stage for the Pies when Eddie is just going to say, "No, No..that's just too much. Forget about it..."

If the Collingwood fans on BF are any indication of their Footy Departments... there's not a snowballs chance in hell of him being a magpie. I have no idea of who he will nominate... but if it's Collingwood it's going to cost them dearly to get the deal over the line. The bad blood runs deep and the Eagles would rather see him go to anyone of the other three clubs IMO.

Sorry to deviate from the tread topic here and to sound a bit naive at the same time.......

But can anyone tell me why this actually is?

I have read about the fact there is "bad blood" regarding past trades between the Pies and the Weagles, but I have no idea where this actually came from.

So if someone could clue me in it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help :) !!!

It goes back to them refusing to offer anything substantial for Gehrig... it stalled trade negotiations across the board, in the end Fraser was forced to go to the Saints. Magpies also wanted Chad Morison. Rather than try to do a proper trade with the Eagles, they tried to get him to walk and go into the PSD. There are others, but can't think of them right now.

Grazman is correct - the above is the real story. The Eagles philosophy has, and will be, seeking draft choices as they seem to manage their selctions very well, rather than seek players. They wanted picks from Collingwood who refused and wanted to offer rubbish. The rumours about animosity to malthouse are just that - rumours.

Collingwood will need to offer serious picks, not players, and after last friday's effort they will be loathed to break up the young group by trading to, say, Richmond for Pick 2 which they then give to eagles, or if they do, Eddie can write out his resignation now.

The rumour today of offering Josh Fraser to Richmond for the coveted 1st pick , which then goes to the Eagles, in the draft is laughable.

Yeah, I can't see the Pies making a move such as trading some pure young talent for a high draft pick. I mean, who on their list, that they would actually trade, is worth a 1-5 pick? All of the players that are actually worth one of those picks they would have to be ludicrous to trade and the players they would offer wouldnt be worth it.

Fraser for No. 1? If you say it's laughable because the Tigers wouldnt do it then fair enough, but Fraser is worth a 10-15 pick, at best. Isn't he like 29?

The rumour was Fraser AND Didak for Pick 2 plus Tambling. IMO if Collingwood were considering that, Richmond would have the whip hand and may get pick 13 for it as well. Rumour then continued that WCE would get Pick 2 plus Tambling and Collingwood get Judd.

Lots of ifs, buts and maybes in the rumour.

BTW, Fraser will be 26 in January. No 1 pick two years after Johnstone. Just seems to have been around forever....

As l've thought all along unless the eddies want to part with Pendlebury or Thomas or Clarke they won't get Judd, gotta be realistic

The Pies massively overrate their own players

Chris Judd is worth THomas, Pendlebury and a 2nd rounder

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
