Just wanting to wish Nathan Jones the best of luck as the Rising Star Award is about to be announced. It will be hard for him to bring this one home but he is a shining light in a team that has done nothing all year. Would be a very deserving winner but I have a feeling a certain Cat might pip him at the post.....and then there is a young magpie.....

It shocks me that so many in the press completely overlook him as a rising star this year. Perhaps it's his demeanor, he looks about 25!

But seriously, he could well win the Melbourne B&F this year and second year winning or challenging in his clubs B&F is an awesome effort regardless of how bad a year they've had.

I agree with you Pates - just had some idiot on SEN saying you shouldn't be nominated two years in a row! It shows that he is the real deal, played a handful of games last year and getting nominated then following it up withand has 21 games this year - all of them have been good games too. Very consistent effort and he is only going to get better with more experience. Love the boy but you can see from my picture, I am biased, he is fast becoming my favourite plalyer.

Shame he doesn't get a mention. Even Gazza Lyon didn't vote him top 5 in the Hearld Sun today. But obviously others sports writers did cause was 3rd in their overall voting.

Personally I rate Pendlebury above Selwood.

Pendlebury went missing for a few weeks in there too.

Jones is consistent every week. At least deserves a mention.

Pendles the winner in my eyes.

Going to be tough to split Pendlebury and Selwood but I really hope those that vote realise it is a lot harder to be consistent and deliver each week when you are playing in a crap team.

Pendels is over-rated....

You would much prefer a tough midfielder like Jones or Selwood over a outside player like Pendels....

Pendels will be a fair player but the other two are on their way to be great players if they remain inury free.......

Its like comparing Cameron Bruce (Pendels) to Daniel Kerr (Selwood-Jones) i know who i would prefer.......

I agree, I'd be surprised if Pendlebury won given the year Joel Selwood has had. Selwood has been an A grade, top performer in a near unstoppable team.

Selwood should win, seems to be everyone's first choice.

The thing with Pendlebury is that it doesn't matter what he turns into in the future - it is voted on this year Nicho. I would also sooner have Jones or Selwood but you can't deny that Scott has had a great season and that is what the powers that be vote on.

Spoke about the honour of wearing the number 2. Garry Lyon asked him about that and also who his mentors were at the club which I would have liked to hear, but he didn't get around to asking that one as Mike Sheahan asked him about other gun midfielders.

Spoke about the Eagles - he was on the bench when the call came "Jones on to Judd" Said Judd got 5 touches in 2 minutes and he didn't know what to do. said it was a massive learning curve and Judd and Kerr are guns.

Not much else really......

Needs 10,000 kicks to become a player - 9,714 to go ;)

?

Good to see Petterd finished on 9 games and can be nominated again next year!! Newton too finished on 10 games and still qualifies again next season.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
