GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs Essendon

This is a strange game.

Despite being in front at half time, I don't feel we deserve to be not do I feel the least bit confident that we will win.

Only our accuracy and the lack of ours has kept us in.

Culley and Roo f

Soft ending.

We actually have 4 of the top 5 rated players on the ground, but the problem is we have 6 of the bottom 8 as well.

If not for Koz, Gawn and Disco, we'd be down a few.

Need to see a lot more from guys like Langford, Culley, Windsor, Lindsay etc - and hopefully Melk/JVR/Fritter can get more involved at the scoring end!

And we lead turnovers 43-35

Max has been good but it's very unusual for him to not have one mark by half time which is the situation.

Has poor Jake been taken off? I hope not but his stats suggest he has.

Who if anyone is going to kick our goals?

Culley and Brody don't look dominating.

I was hoping for a big Fritts...... Melksham shoe. Nup.

Jvr....can't see it.

He's like a turtle

Maybe the two Pickett's.

Win this quarter convincingly and we could make top four.

Heaps at stake.

Windsor.nrrdd to.pull.hod finger out

Lots do

Just get the first of 7 for this quarter.

Far out. Too easy.

We're making an average side look good.

Why do we this to ourselves?????

Front on contact depends on which team does it I see

Culley can’t get beat in behind whoever that guy was. That’s just lack of defensive attention

Culley looks horrible, not sure how much his injury has affected him but based of preseason reports he looks very far off what people were saying.

The extremely soft underbelly of this club is staggering. Even in the 2021 flag year, we still put up weak as [censored] performances. Remember GWS? Remember Collingwood in Buckley’s final match as coach?

Former Essendon champion Gary Lyon is really ANNOYING in commentary- willing the bombers to win !!

Oh, former Melbourne champion ?!?!?! Really 🤬

Petty been our best forward. competing hard

Wth - NOT GOOD

Wasted chances from Petty and Steele.

Has to look non biased. You can hear he’s pro us still.

Handy point

Lindsey that handball is bloody disgusting

My kids are hiding again as i’m losing my rag

this is not healthy

We miss our chances, and they take theirs.

Our conversion kept us in the first half, won't be good if that falls away.

Lot of footy left, but this doesn't look good. Thought we'd come out after HT firing, but we're still asleep and sloppy.

We have been dragged down to their level and are stinking it up bigtime

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
