I miss Nibbler 😥

Walker took an almighty dive there, what a soft bloke.

What if Carlton are down the whole game? They can’t maintain a lead but can they chase one down 🤔

What do you get if you cross a kangaroo with an elephant?

A diagram of both these teams' defence.

surprisingly open game so far

Carlton winning every ground ball in their f50

crows have one of the weakest midfields in the league. Carlton giving them a bath

It seems both teams’ post-goal songs are being played. So, we’ll hear Slice of Heaven a few times on Saturday 🤞

Would you describe it more as Kangaphant or Eleroo?

It would sound like a Jive Bunny remix from outside they're scoring so fast.

To those who are too young to know what Jive Bunny is, look it up, you'll really love it 🤮

That was so dodgy. That was so dodgy. And how about Haines being called for deliberate?

I thought we were going to drown tonight.

But the weather is absolutely turned crazy good – 13 goals in the first quarter, so far!

Carlton’s banner…

Never a good thing to see, no matter the team 😥

We think it’s supposed to say OUR CLUB LIKE NO OTHER but the O in NO has stuck to the L in LIKE. This would’ve happened when they folded it.

I can’t believe the ump fell for it. Even Riewoldt said it’s amazing how quickly a forward gets to his feet when a 50 is paid.

Bloody big holes all over Australia?

Yep they’re both gone with the optional defence

And he immediately put his hand to his head just to leave no doubt

I could also argue why doe ls the GF always at G, why does Collingwood always play Essendon on Anzac Day, Round zero but I could go on and on.

All i can say it that for every visitor I come across around 8/10 support it and seem to come back.

I say argue against all those things! I agree with all of it.

The reality of Australia is that realistically only Melbourne is within driving distance to Adelaide, and the problem with that is that on any given week there’s at least 5 games of footy in Melbourne. Of those I’d estimate less than 2% of the crowd at those games aren’t fans of either team. Victorians have a lot of footy available to them every week - so the concept of gathering to see a lot of footy is made redundant by geography.

I think it’s great for SA, but I think it’s a dud for 95% of footy fans, and I think the AFL is asking a lot of its core supporters in the current economic climate. It’s very nice that self funded retirees can afford to travel around the country at will, but it’s pretty ignorant of the financial reality of a lot of the people who make footy what it is.

I genuinely hope you have a great weekend. My criticism is never of the fans, or the massive contribution SA has made to footy. I just think the AFL hasn’t read the room on it, and the average fan can smell the sales job being done on them. 👍

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
