TRAINING: Saturday 4th April 2026

The Captain’s Run at Gosch’s this morning is advertised as starting at 11am.

Because it’s a case of blink and you miss it, if you’re heading out there today best you get there at least half an hour earlier since I heard they’re coming out at 10:30am.

S&Gs only goes for 20 minutes-ish so you might end up missing them and having to go to the other side of AAMI to glare at the Filth training. Not that I’d ever do anything like that.

Yes, very interesting if he trains and even more so, then plays.

He didn’t train yesterday.

Let us know if he is participating at the Captain’s run and that should be even more informative.

There’s a VFL Captain’s Run this morning before the main one. I just ran into my buddy Wardell and he said their session begins at 10:20am so I guess the AFL session will follow straight on from that one.

That’s dedication for you. The drive from Leongatha, Inverloch etc would bite into individual match payments.

Considering they’re running Casey on the smell of an oily rag anyway. Has the team bus been swung into action Ghostie?

The Casey players are coming out now. Jeffo feels fine and is happy @picket fence

Kalani isn’t playing tomorrow but has been told he’s right for next week but surprise surprise: Casey has a bye next week 🙄

There’s an Easter egg hunt lined up for today. Look out players’ kids, I’ll elbow your little heads outta the way if it means chocolate. JK. I’m an adult.

Melky’s kids are here. Frankie his daughter asked me If I’m gonna wear her dad’s number tomorrow. I said yes but since Luker’s not out here with the Casey boys I’m thinking the #44 might get a gig 🤷‍♀️

What do the medical staff do to warm up? Kick to kick.

Fritta’s not here. Well he’s here but he’s indoors. He’s not gonna take part in training

Luker is training with the seniors. He said the plan is, depending on how he goes tomorrow for Casey, he’ll debut next week. That’s the plan anyways.

If Fritta is out, and Luker isn't in, I guess it's Laurie or Heath?

Moose trained with the Casey boys. Bill trained with the firsts. Bill reminded me of his post-goal song choice. Make of that what you will 😅

Luker is playing a full game with Casey.

Hendo is playing only the first half then it’s off to the ‘G for him.

I asked the medicos if Riv even exists since he’s not on the Casey list nor the seniors list and not even on the injury list. They said he’s got the knee “niggle” still. But one of the players told me he can train and even play but they’re being super cautious because they don’t want to exacerbate the niggle. When I asked our doc why Riv’s not listed as injured he said “You’d have to ask Alan Richardson about that.” I chatted to Richo but didn’t ask about Riv. I can read the room.

No Fritta. Hendo Laurie and Luker trained with the squad.

Some light running and shots on goal.

Kolt has the Classic footballers strut.

Max wearing a beanie and others in hoodies.

Finished with kick to kick with the kids.

Melkys family dog very popular.

So Fritta's not even there for some light running and shots on goal for captains run but Luker is and they are already talking to him about a debut if he gets through a game.

To me this smells more like he plays in place of Fritta tomorrow but is not allowed to say.

Luker said he isn’t expecting to play in the firsts tomorrow because they wouldn’t handle his debut that way 🤷‍♀️

Laurie in for Fritta is what I make of that.

For the record what is the song?

Doesn’t the entire VFL not play next week?

That’s my guess. I’d be surprised if Kentfield got a gig.

This is bizarre as it just invites speculation from media et al

Should have just put him on the injury list from the get go which is what every other club does when they want to buy time. Ensures if there are other issues it is kept in house.

I can see King being asked at every press conf. He doesn't need the noise or distraction.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
