Not certain, but think Adams' opponents have 7 goals to half time.

That's a rough, rough 60 minutes for a young tall trying to prove they belong and a question mark growing every week.

Test of character coming out for the second half.

Jefferson would be half way to earning a promotion had he converted his chances. Should have 5 instead of 2.

When opportunity knocks maximise the outcome.

Adams papers were marked the moment Tairon Ah Mu tore him a new one in an intra club match.

Will be delisted at the end of the year.

So Jack Henderson heads off to the G to play the role of emergency after a busy first half.

Tough ask for Casey with both Laurie and Hendo off and the Hawks winning in the middle.

Where is Xavier Taylor? First mention.

I believe they are playing Taylor in a position that isn't his preferred.

Possibly getting him to learn to be defensive. Though he his not helping Adams out enough.

Put him on the ball or as a forward flanker!

Make that now 8 goals.

'Kev', he was recruited as a defender...

Has a bit of development to do but showed a bit more towards the end of the 2nd Q getting involved more.

I think that's something like 6 frees in a row for the Hawks and three of their last four goals came from frees.

Picket, be happy, Jeffo is playing himself back into the AFL side.

A sky high ball like that should never be marked by the oppo.

Make it 9 goals on Adams now.

Strange game to watch. Some great footy matched by some really poor footy. It feels like Casey's little errors are the main hinge around which the game is being won or lost. If Casey sharpen up, it is theirs for the taking.

I think Taylor is an outside runner. They need to feed him. Very good with ball in hand, and moves well into spaces, with the ability to break lines.

triple prong forward 50 of el jefe, aj, and luker is working, with the middle of those nailing a set shot

if we had any semblance of a midfield other than heath we'd be okay

back to 16 behind now

delightful pass from aj to laplanche sees him kick his first and it's back to 10 the diff

we're hanging in there really well, about 17 mins into the 3rd quarter, 12.6.78 to 14.4.88

I've been saying for years that we needed to draft and develop another KPD. It'll hold back our return to finals unless we can find some trades or free agents like the Hawks did with Battle and Barrass.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
