You make it sound like you have to cross the Nullarbor to get here TC 😂 I guess for a lot of people anything over the Westgate Bridge is pretty much terra nullius.

Got some fairly flash canteens way way over west Rab, just keep driving. Highly recommended Voyager Estate near Margaret River. Or further to the north Gage Roads or Little Creatures in Freo, if beer is your tipple. Darwin the pickens are decidedly slimmer. But Sari Rasa authentic Indonesian is worth the visit lunchtime only.

Who will the Dees take as the travelling emergency to Perth? Assume they take Laurie as a cover for Langdon.

Typically Dee’s have overloaded in travelling emergencies, taking 2 or 3 players and leaving Casey light on. Not sure if Tom McDonald will be WA bound or play for Casey.

That brings me back to the glory days of the VFL in the 1970s, when it was the VFA and channel 2 covered the games.

I barracked for Port Melbourn as kid, because they were red and blue of course, and in the 70s they had the same disco blue as the dees VFL jumper, and still do actually (though it was also nice to support a successful team!).

But i also had soft spot for the Dandenong Redlegs, one because i barracked for Norwood Redlegs and two they wore what looked like our old jumper.

I was much more into VFA than VFL in the 60's and 70's because of my father's involvement. Mad Preston supporter until I played with Coburg (also red and blue - Essendon style) in '72 and so swapped. I used to go every week, even to Port where you took your life in your hands. They were the worst bunch of supporters ever! Thugs, like their team.

It was Channel 0 (later 10) that broadcast the VFA in those days. Remember Phil Gibbs and later Phil Cleary? I loved the 16 man a side game. So fast and open. Played like the AFL is this year with the addition of the obligatory all-in 'blue' each week.

Anyway, where am I? Crikey, the calendar says 2026! Time for a shower.

Yeah, pretty sure they did after 10 stopped in late 80's. By that time I was totally focussed on the Dees.

Can we at least get the team sheet up on Demonland every time they play .I would like to a least have more coverage of the VFL team so us supporters who are interested in the whole playing group both Melb and Casey players, to know how they are playing ,there is hardly any information any where .I remember last year a few supporters who attend Casey games speaking about JAI CULLEY on Demonland .The more info on how the playing group at the VFL will hopefully make it more positive for those who are busting to get a game with big boys .Too many times in last few years the same players week in week out were getting a game what ever happened to term on when you saw selection on a Thursday Night with player not playing with OMITTED beside their name .

The history of VFA on TV is fully covered in Shannon Gill's podcasts (available on Spotify).

HI BINMAN
You look like an old mate of mine from down south ,being a bit of a techno nerd I don,t know how to do it other than a screen shot AND where is a team sheet of the VFL side to play this weekend ,I have looked at MFC site, I have googled it nothing . I,m sure there is someone at the nerve centre can go post here are the teams or the probable teams for MFC 1st,s and 2nd,s every Fri Morn on MFC site and onto Demonland ,I'm not on the Facebook Melb Supporters Page as a few years ago I was and what was posted was really gutless stuff .Ps when I was a young kid playing used love reading on Mon morn about the U14,s etc on school notice board the coach used write down on pen and paper .

I would respectfully ask that only the actual teams are posted or at least specified otherwise. Far too often I’ve spotted teams posted on here with speculation which had injured players listed as playing and raised my hopes soon to have them dashed with the truth.

Really looking forward to seeing Tommy Matthews, as well as checking out the speed on the very large Riley onley (provided both are named). Go (all) demons!

We will do our best to post up a teamsheet with player numbers for Casey games but this is subject to the team being announced before the game starts 😃. I'm not being a smart[censored] here because it has happened in the past that the club or the VFL has been very slow at announcing the teams. Stay tuned.

It can be hard to find the VFL team. And often it's not announced till very late as the line-up is dependent on who is selected in the senoirs

Usually @KC from Casey will post the line-up in the corresponding thread for the match when it gets announced.

But if you want to find it, the best bet is afl.com - top right on the main page of the app and website is three buttons. Click that and then click on the VFL link. It will take you to the fixture. Click on the Casey game and then lineup - if it has been loaded up teams will be there.

If on your phone screenshot line-up and then you can post here by clicking on select files to upload link below. Upload the screen shot.

Or just transcribe the team

Team is up now. But I can't upload image as I've exceeded my limit. You might be able to

Can't be bothered transcribing team, but I can tell you MFC players selected are:

  • Melksham

  • Xavier Taylor

  • Ricky Mentha

  • Riley Onley

  • Bailey Laurie (note: emergency for the oned so might not play for Casey)

  • Jed Adams

  • Max Heath

  • Tom Matthews

  • Paddy Croos

  • AMW

  • Jack Henderson

Notable non MFC players selections because they are on the radar of AFL clubs as possible mid season draft and rookie picks:

  • Toby Sinema

  • Luamon Lual (on the interchange is a Warrell Lual, who surely must be related?)

  • Ethan Stanley

Great. Each club has selected two different teams. 😀

I'm going for the team KC put up. Max Heath in the ruck at 204cm sounds more feasible than Heath as hbf🤣

Perfectly sums up the shambles that is the VFL.

Big thanks for everyone following up on the VFL ,when the 2nd,s played before the 1st,s real die hard supporters would watch both games and have a favourite 2nd,s player who deserved a go in the ones ,but like Whispering Jack said why has the AFL let the VFL struggle .I live in North I would love to go down to Casey to see the VFL E Taged ! Why can.t the AFL structure VFL games inner suburbs Pies ,Carlton Nth Essendon old grounds ? After watching quite a few games on Commercial Free Foxtel so far this year ,half empty stadiums blaring ads on every part of the screen and have to pay an extra $16 on my membership to get a ticket into a game to see the Dees at the G in the next few weeks .I ,m going to Doggy land tomorrow ,hope to see a lot of you there.

Not again. This has been going on for 150 years now.

Bulldogs. Relatively light injury list. Unavailable: Cody Weightman - knee TBC, Zac Walker - ankle 6-8 weeks, Latham Vandermeer - concussion - Test, Riley Garcia - hamstring TBC.

Can't wait to go this game.

I live in the Southwest, so Casey is, pardon the pun, a Westgate bridge too far.

So I've penciled in this game, round 8 versus the Pies at Vic Park, and most exciting of all as its even closer than Whitten Oval, round 13 against Willy at Willy.

I am out west bin man and was looking forward to this game at Whiten oval this year. Unfortunately I am in NZ this weekend, actually on a beautiful island Waiheke island. So you cannot help bad luck. I should be at the pies and willy games. If I can sneek off from the n-laws I might be able to sneak a watch if not then it is a replay.

What a sad joke of a “support / development” competition.

We have said it all before Mono and yes it is, it amazes me that no one in the media does an expo on it.

It will be weird seeing Jack Billings lining up for the Bulldogs. Will be sorely missed by Casey after his contributions over the past couple of years.

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
