2026 Goal Songs Revealed

Featured Replies

I would have went with "I'm shipping up to Boston" by Dropkick Murphys.

Expect that would really bring the crowd into it.

Although most ACDC or Spiderbait songs would be great as well.

no metal/hard rock. very disappointing. would have thought at least one from a bunch of young aussie blokes would pick an ACDC tune

props to young Roo for selecting the clash though. at least one person on the list has some taste

Jeffo forgotten about so I'm pitching in with...........

"WHAT ABOUT ME" Moving Pictures!

Any of these acceptable.

I gather others can see Twitter posts there but I only get a list of numbers after the first one, like another member.

genuinely baffled by Gawn’s religious choir song pick

First thought he was taking the pizz.

But maybe he thinks he needs all the help he can get with his goal kicking.

I went to a NBL match many years ago , every time some someone scored they would be snippets of luny tune songs. Constant listening to whistle happy referees sounding their instrument of annoyance and luny tunes , it was so off putting, I never watched another match. We are not Yanks ( being part of a U.S corporation should not count) so why do we have to follow in their footsteps?

And this is why I now attend more country football games than the AFL (apart from the horrendous 2 hours via packed VLine to get to the MCG). The AFL appears to believe that the game itself is not entertaining enough, so let's use light, sound, and mind-numbing 'fan engagement' interaction to overwhelm our otherwise disengaged senses. And the gambling advertising!!!

To put it simply - I love footy. I love looking across the ground to see who is matching up. I love the sound of game itself (the on field talk, the sound of bodies colliding, the noise of the crowd). I love the high marking, the run-and-carry, the freak goals. And then you chat with the people around you about how good/bad a certain play was.

What Port have done with Never Tear Us Apart, and the Lions with Country Road after a Charlie Cameron goal is lame in my opinion, but both have emerged from people, experiences and culture within the club so I understand why their supporter love it.

This screams wannabe. Let's artificially create fan and supporter reactions.

No. Just shut up and let the game be the focus.

The silence was more embarrassing than a collection of 80s/90s slop.

Although Daft Punk will be fun with Bayley if he can kick a few…

I’m shocked by Fritta’s choice of Daft Punk. He’s slightly cooler than I thought he was 🤣

Langers: Where Is My Husband? 🤣

I already hated this concept, then Tholstrup picked the worst song ever recorded.

P.S - Do other teams still play the songs even when they're getting thrashed? It would be comical if a side was 87 points down with 10 seconds to go, kicked their fourth goal of the day, and it set off Let Me Entertain You.

What about when a player kicks a behind? That's real ground breaking stuff there and an opportunity for the club. "Missed opportunity" by Hall and Oates could work.

I reckon they should play a song when the OPPOSITION kicks a point - perhaps Loser by Beck.

Creep by Radiohead..?

The AFL admins would veto anything but the radio friendly classics. Still would've been cool to hear some iron maiden or similar.

Or some classic American sitcom canned laughter?

i worry about todays youth. absolutely nothing ironic or funny about selcting a song by Cher.

i've been a supporter but if he gets de-listed for this he can have no complaints.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
