JT seemed cold on L.Pickett. Genuine or by design?

I'm hoping he's lobbed out plenty of red herrings in the scheme of things.

Maybe planning on a worst case scenario for GC 1st next year isn't a bad thing. Pick 18, then add all the bids on that. Like with Lindsay we get a year head start on developing them too. Maybe strike while the iron is hot and grab someone we definitely really want. We still have 2 (or 3?)future 1sts to use next year if Humphrey was available.

2026 1st rounders will be more valuable than the usual draft because clubs pretty well lose the next couple of years with Tassie coming in. So we would want a good deal for our GC F1.

North and WCE are pushing a barrow of the stinky stuff up a steep hill.

Given the low price of picks 9&11 this year I wonder if Pickett gets past North and a few others if we put GCF1 and 37 up for grabs but want a 2026 2nd as part of the deal?

Cal only has North and GWS linked to him and I think GWS will stick with Taylor even if Pickett is still there.

I wouldn't get too excited yet about Kentfield. He's a very good contested mark, but he hasn't shown he has the athletic requirements yet to cut it at AFL level.

He was also a very low production guy even in juniors.

Now, he may progress to become a star, but I'll certainly temper my expectations based on his output to date.

I'd add competitive, excellent by foot with great vision and footy IQ. Some of his spot ups inside Casey's 50 last year were brilliant

Perhaps. People get excited by hopium.

He couldn't have done what you say too often because he rarely gets the footy.

Fully agree. We wish Luker well but apart from 2 or 3 good games at Casey there's not much to get excited about.

Jason Taylor take a [censored] bow

constantly picks up diamonds in the rough

Maybe wait until he plays a game or 20.

The same muppets on here saying we should use the F1 from GC in a trade this year for another pick in the teens will be the same that loudly whinge about not having the equivalent pick next year.

I am a BIG WRAP for our young forward contenders this year. You have experience in Melksham, Fritsch and Mihocek, huge upside in Kentfield and Moose, and perhaps a breakout year from Jeffo!! A lot to be excited about!

I might have the wrong take on this, but I get the feeling that clubs assess who JT has interest in, then pounce. We have seen it this year with the 2 we are linked with, both considered later picks, now in top 10 contention. I feel like this has been the case for a while.

I might be mistaken, but given the 1st rounder we have next year is FROM Gold Coast, I was of the understanding that we couldn't then trade it back to them?
I seem to recall some bogus AFL shenanigans around that......

You can but not in the same year it was originally traded
