I wish my workplace was so toxic as to pay me over a mill a year to kick a footy and act like a child.

Toxic workplace give me a spell. We may be a rabble but he's had too long leash his whole career and as soon as a new regime enters that actually demands a modicum of professionalism, he throws the toys out of the cot and pots the club on the way out.

Good riddance to the spoiled little [censored] I say.

I for one actually believe that the meeting (which was at Clarry's manager's office) was actually centered on his on-field role and the flexibility that King wants his midfielders to possess.

However, I don't think Clarry has the emotional intelligence nor self-esteem to take on this feedback in a professional manner. Instead he takes it completely personal, gets defensive, blames others (like the club), and throws insults instead of taking any responsibility.

We will be even more hurt when Clarry commits himself to being a footballer again.

Kingers will be the best thing to happen to him. He will not accept anything other than optimum output and commitment and we will all be reminded of just what a monumental fall from grace we instilled upon ourselves.

Hasn't Lindsay been earmarked to take on the HBF role? Salem?

And even though Rivers wins his fair share of midfield possessions, in my view, he's better suited off a HBF where he can use his dash & daring (and hit up targets?๐Ÿคž)

But someone here (might have been DS) mentioned that some teams are going with 3 rebounders out of defence these days

So yeah, Harry Oliver, picked at #19 in last year's draft, might fit the bill, AF (plus pick 34, thank you)

I'd be going with 3, because you're also waxing between half back, wing and half forward.

Harry Oliver also allows you to release Rivers and/or Lindsay into the midfield rotation proper, with Salem back there.

I think Rivers' best position is half back too, but now we're definitely going to find out if he has mid potential.

I'm actually more worried about May being around next year than Trac or Oliver. I think he absolutely needs to go for this cultural reset.

Hahaha, thousands of dishevelled demons supporters given blankets, food and water upon arriving at their new club.

Jokes aside, looking like we'll get pick 34, 36 (GWS) or 38 (Pies)?

Would love if one of those paid a little more of his salary then reported but we've lost any chance of that happening now.

Losing McVee creates a re-shuffle and Windsor was played at half back before sanity prevailed and he was moved to the wing/midfield

And if we assume that Oliver & Petracca find new clubs, how will we use Viney?

It only seems like yesterday that we were trying Jack in other roles (forward?) but we're probably going to need his experience and attack on the ball at the stoppages. Go again, Jack (given the circumstances)

As much as Oliver was an issue, he did accumulate 264 contested possessions & 121 clearances for the 2025 season

Langford, Lindsay, Windsor & Kolt* still need to be nurtured along as mids

Sparrow needs to double his output and step up to the plate

And Rivers could be asked to take on a Gus type role across the back of the midfield (needs to get more physical for that role though)

Kozzie is the mid/forward and we might draft or recruit another mid

And Harry, if we can get him

*Give Kolt midfield minutes to see if he can cut it

I'd be staggered if they played Rivers there.

Humphrey or no Humphrey, Rivers has to be in that midfield mix next year.

That said, he does offer great drove from half back and King wants to play a back half transition game...

I think Harry Oliver would suit that to a tee with his kicking.

Where was it mentioned by Lamb or anyone else that we "want a player" in the deal?

I do feel like I remember Lamb saying this somewhere earlier maybe last week? But since then when asked all he's said is a trade that "turns our heads" and won't go into details of what that would look like.

No, I think itโ€™s sad that such a talent and once great player for our club is leaving in this manner - regardless of whoโ€™s right and wrong. I think itโ€™s pretty evident from his reactions that heโ€™s hurt and lashing out as a result. Iโ€™m not excusing it, I just think itโ€™s a shame.

Playing at the back of the midfield (holding midfielder) is not that far removed from the HBF where Rivers started off. It wouldn't be that foreign for the lad

Rivers disposal from half back seemed to be much better than when he disposes of the ball as a mid

It's as if he freezes trying to look for targets ... and of course, long bombs were such a part of our game plan for so long that many of our mids were just programmed into hoofing it forward

You sound like you've chucked it in

Get over your wonder boy, Petracca. He's not going to be captain and he'll almost certainly be playing elsewhere

Have a good cry about it, if it helps

Well Kolt is certainly not a natural forward and our depth is no longer strong enough that he won't be picked in the team when applicable

In fact, we're down to 2 x A grade players and the rest are either on their way up or have regressed

2 examples are Petty & Lever. Neither impact games and both are on very good coin. Fritsch is another and Rivers just wastes his disposals

King will have his work cut out trying to put a winning combination together

Could be a long season ahead and we'll need to be very patient

I am very nice actually. And as a poster I have a lovely disposition. Perhaps tomorrow you can wake up, find a couple of minutes and actually look at what you are reacting so poorly to.

I find you quite excitable and irascible, and why wouldnโ€™t you be - youโ€™re a Dees supporter at the end of the world. But have another read and take a joke.

His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
