7 more days of this. There's no GiF that combines all the emotions and thoughts that will roll through my head and this thread in that time. It's triple, maybe even quadruple GiF time and I simply must check out and do some work today. For those that might try to roll out a multiple GiF post be very careful, there's a lot of very edgy people on here atm.

i can't come up with anything better than this one

Correct. You sell Bailey to another club and you jeopardise a trac deal.

Is he? Is that not being reported in the media?

He instagram shows he is. His player managers is aware of it as are the suns

There’s only 2 scenarios IMO where this deal doesn’t happen

Scenario 1: Humphrey says he doesn’t want to be trade to our club, as is his right as a contracted player, and we either settle for picks or refuse Trac’s trade request

Scenario 2: Gold Coast decide they’d rather keep Humphrey, despite being a major flight risk, over getting Trac

Unlike Trac, Humphrey has a long career ahead. We can keep coming back for him every year until he’s OOC and then throw Gold Coast a bag of chips for him. Whereas Trac is 29 with a 4 year deal still, It’s now or never for GC to get Trac

Option 3: he nominates hawthorn and Merritt stats at Essendon and we keep Trac.

What have the Sqawkers got that GC might want 🤷‍♂️

The suns aren’t going to trade him without something insane coming back. A couple of picks and a young player they don’t need isn’t going to be much temptation for them

And Humphrey stays at GC

GC don’t want to trade Humphrey for Trac, much less for picks or some kid they don’t need and give their direct competitor a leg up in the process

It’s Dees for Humphrey, or he stays put

Edited by Very Jaded

If Humphrey tells Gold Coast he wants to be traded to us and they say no

Then we say no to trading track end of discussion.

Hopefully not, but what do they have to give Essendon for Merritt who’s also contracted?

Literally not our problem, or Gold Coasts

Hawks and Essendon can go take a long hike off a short pier

Craig Cameron on trade radio still very adamant that they wont be trading Humphrey regardless if clubs continue to ask.

Not sounding good on the BH front. Craig Cameron saying they won’t trade him but he sounds genuine. It doesn’t sound like a tactic.

But also has given BH a few whacks in the chat. Just called him ‘impetuous’!!

Craig Cameron on Humphries:

  • Humphries has not stated either by himself, or by his manager, "in those words" that he wants to be traded. But, GC are not "naive".

  • CC explicitly states that BH will not be traded but "the landscape is changing and we have to understand that the landscape is what it is ... but once a club is definitive with its answer, that's what needs to be accepted."

  • CC ideally wished this scenario did not play out as it did and it was 'unusual' in the way its played out in the public eye.

  • Hardwick's message to Bailey "we love you, you're still in a development phase and you have three years on a contract and we are not trading you."

  • CC "he's 21 and impetuous and it's the way of the world that guys think they can get out when contracted and the grass may be greener, but it's not going to happen."

  • GC will work through the awkwardness of the situation with Bailey and the return (at start of preseason) will not be an issue.

Craig Cameron mentioned that they’re now negotiating on the Trac deal and didn’t rule out a player trade involvement but followed with Bailey not to be available still…so is this still GC posturing hard or is the Bailey dream over?

Also mentioned that they wont be trading Jake Rogers. He shut that one down pretty quickly..

their pick might not be top 10 this year by the time it actually comes up.

but i mean any deal containing Christian Petracca is going to be better than any deal containing 2 draft picks and McKenzie.

Gold Coast are unique in the draft picks don't mean as much to them as other clubs.

  1. GC would back themselves to get Petracca with draft picks (and I think they will) if BH went elsewhere or didn’t leave at all (which sounds likely)

  2. McKenzie wouldn’t necessarily need to go to GC, Hawks could trade him for collateral

  3. Hawks have enough to get BH done if it came up.

It's been a while since someone mentioned eggs on faces, but the egg on Gold Coast's face if they end up trading Humphrey to a contender like Hawks for picks, AND miss out on Trac, is gonna be messy.

This is a once in a Gary Ablett Jnr opportunity for the GC to land a big fish into their

All I heard from Craig was they aren't trading any players that were mentioned, so in hindsight they want want want, but don't want to part with any players.

  • CC "he's 21 and impetuous and it's the way of the world that guys think they can get out when contracted and the grass may be greener, but it'snot going to happen."

Well if Gold Coast has this stance why are they talking to petracca can’t have it both ways he is contracted after all

Geez he’s a hypocrite

So it’s fine for Trac to shop himself to you but not for Humphrey to shop himself to us/other clubs?

He doesn't sound convincing in keeping Humphrey.

It will probably be decided in the coming days and like other years to give Trade Radio and the 'echo chamber' media something to 'echo' about, the AFL will arrange to hold it up until late on Wednesday.

They will probably do the same with other high profile trades Curnow and maybe Merrett.

The posturing is all about click bait for the AFL!

Ironic.

Giving a tour to a NS medalist, premiership player who has four to go on a contract, then to say “guys think the grass is greener” and can get people out of contract.

They will remain average without Trac.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
