The Bailey Humphrey Thread

Trac’a $1.3M per season would surely turn Humphrey’ head. Do we have the nuts to offer it?

If we're still really keen on him (and our interest isn't just born of a desperate desire to get a player for Petracca), like how he's progressed since his draft year, and he fits in well with how King sees us playing, we absolutely should.

Bump it up 1.5 x 8 and he gets the number 5 on his back. And the play on the MCG 15 times a season

Is he really worth that ??

Or are we 'that' drunk who'd order the vintage Bollie just to impress?

I haven't followed this chapter. Is he going to win games?

Craig Cameron quoted as saying it doesn’t matter who he meets with, he won’t be traded.

A real Melbourne life member would never..

Yes. He’s a genuine match winner who’s so young and has so much growth left. It’s not outside the realms that he could become the best player in the competition

Thanks Ted 👍

Based on that has been stated I believe that they know that Bailey wants to get back to Victoria, it’s more of whether it happens this year, which is unlikely in my eyes.

What can these teams offer GC that is far better than us?

  • Melbourne - Petracca

  • Hawthorn - Picks 8 (To Ess for Merritt), 30, 41, 60, 75

  • Collingwood - Picks 38, 57, 69, 76

Ball is in Humphrey's court, either he comes to us or sits at GC until Hawthorn and Collingwood gain better picks for him in 2027 or 2028.

What about the future picks that Hawthorn and Collingwood could offer?

With everyone suggesting this is a weak draft, future picks may actually be more valuable.

Well who else is on the big money right now if we lose Trac, Oliver & May? I’m guessing Pickett, Gawn and I’d say Petty. Viney and Lever may still be on a bit but we have some younger talent that shouldn’t be taking up too much.

Gold Coast are trying to go for a premiership. They want players with immediate impact not potential 18yo in future drafts.

If Humphrey falls through, it will be Jed Walter....GC have plenty to bargain with here.

The constant chatter that we would trade two of our best players for just picks is madness.

Club has been clear from start we need an offer that is going to turn "our" heads.

All threads are making me feel like am reading straight from some dementia ward where people can only post MFC related things.

Bat [censored] crazy.

No Petracca then. Sack up GC or continue to be an unsuccessful minnow both on and off the field.

Who else are we gonna pay?

100% has to be the approach.

What I hope Lamb says to Craig Cameron in response to the above update:

"Ok fine, no icing on the cake for you blokes next year to help you take the next step. Come back to us when you're more open mined"

What I expect Lamb says to Craig Cameron:

"oh well that's a pity. What second round draft picks you got if you won't give us Humphrey?"

I've been saying this all week, slide a picture over the table of BH to the Suns, and say "Call us when you're ready to get serious"

Trac is contracted, we set the price, it's up to them if they wanna buy or pass.

Other clubs will come if they sense the Suns can't get the deal done

No idea... just asking if HE is worth it.

Not thinking you just throw money at the wind just because you can.

Crazy to hear GCs reaction to the Humphrey noise when they are in pursuit of Trac

Would be nice to hear us come out with a statement saying Trac is a required player and we will not be bending over for 2 picks

There has to be a world where we're prepared to take Trac back for this approach to work.

If we've officially closed the book on Trac and won't be coming back under any circumstances, then we're at the mercy of the Suns I reckon.

Good early posturing from CC.

Flanders could still well be the domino here.

Well the thing is if he doesn't get the money it just goes to someone else on our list. That's how the salary floor works. You do generally have to pay extra to get outside talent over the line. Especially when we have very little else to offer. It's probably overs at this point in his career but the talent is there. I'd absolutely take the punt.

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
