AFLW: Rd 06 vs West Coast

zanker with 5 majors already. she's in record breaking territory if she can keep it up.

saraid tayloe most improved player this year. she's been excellent

With the return of Gillard and Goldrick, it appears Chaplin is getting some time in the midfield

excellent half

last weeks mulligan put behind us

The standard of AFLW is improving every season.

One areawhere it has improved out of sight is marking - more terrific marks and a lot fewer easy ones dropped.

Save for one poor kick its been good to see Pisano involved in a few score involvements. She has the ability to add another dynamic to our forward line.

One handball too many in some plays. Unlikely to hold up against North

That's the million dollar question.

Can our game style hold up against the roos' uber pressure come finals?

I have my doubts, but I love that stinnear has stuck to his guns game style wise.

So I sez, I sez, "I can't wait for the moment our whole forward line stands up on the same day.'

Wuz wut I sez.

Just waiting for Bannan to bring her fitness to bear and dominate the late game, then we've got pretty much a full set.

McNamara had been everywhere, would only be fair for her to snag at least one goal.

That sort of forward play is what got Pisano drafted, hopefully we see a bit more of it in the coming weeks!

Gilliard hasn't been too rusty considering its her first game back after a layoff

From a percentage perspective, it's pretty frustrating to let them kick the last 3.

Looking at the ladder I'm not sure percentage will be a big determinant for us but not running out the game is not great.

comprehensive 50 point win. we'll take that

Zanker tore the game apart with 5 in the first half. couldn't keep that pace going though

complete performance across the board. no passengers

great to get last weeks game out of the system

5-1 we're in a great position. getting players back from injury too

go dees

The forward line of this team is a beautiful thing, love watching it in action. Also I used to get frustrated with Paxy's decision making, but this season she's been excellent - if anything she's too unselfish going inside fifty. Impressed with Taylor's game today too.

Overall a lot to like, we're definitely amongst the best but North are the pace setters here and the path to the premiership is going to be through them.

Kind of an optimal result, really.

Credit to us for crushing an opponent so decisively, and also credit to coach Daisy for being able to convince a thrashed team to come out and give something substantial in the final quarter.

Yes, it seems she comes in for centre bounces and then drops back.

I think this is a good move by Mick to give her more exposure in the midfield as with Purcell out it gives us a bit more strength at centre bounces.

Well worth persisting with.

One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
