In 2021 in close games (margin 12 or fewer points) we were 4-2 and a draw. When the margin was 7-12 it was 3-1.

Since then for games 1-6 margin we're 6-12 and for games with a margin 7-12 we're 5-7 (and all games under 13 points we're 11-19)

This year in the 2 goal or fewer points margin games we're 2-5. If I'm not mistaken we lost our last 3 of these games in '24 so that's 2-8 since midJune last year! I am so f****** sick of the close losses!

He lost confidence mid season. Since regaining his place he has gradually improved. A few fumbling and kicking errors today but I do agree. In time a gun, pacy midfielder

In games that's mainly on the mids but it also comes down to how the midfield coach sets up structures etc and how well drilled and coached the mids are.

Very interesting. I had a similar conversation with Gawn at a function .

A couple of interesting things he also had to say was that Petty was exemplary at training but that he was doing his best “ playing out of position “. He clearly sees him as a back man.

He also was the view Langdon should be the next Captain and asked what I thought of that suggestion.

He also wasn’t a fan of Paul Roos’ treatment of players, especially singling them out.

Showed plenty today. Proud of the team for that effort after a big week.

Seems like a lot of players are rediscovering form at the end of the season. Namely Petty and Roo up forward. Also, Culley looks a player. Strong, made some good decisions, great overhead.

Lots for the next coach there to get excited about.

Would Maxy (or any senior Ruck) have input with the mids coach as to the set up? Or is there no collaboration and it’s totally dictated too by said coach?

Only recently. He did say Lever was probably the most obvious choice but Lever has ongoing injury issues. That makes sense as he seems to perennially have chronic foot and ankle issues.

Yep I thought that to. Kozzie would have been good but I wonder if they wanted him forward in case the ball got down there. I would have thrown him in the middle because he's the one most likely to get it

I would be shocked if they didn't, particularly maxy.

But it's not Maxy's job to coach them and ensure they are so well drilled they could set up with their eyes closed. Or for that matter to coach mids not to get caught behind their opponent.

Cully another great game always gives 110%, makes you wonder how many other players have been stuck in the vfl that haven’t been able to get a game due to goodwins loyalty to the premiership team that could also have what it takes
