still no sign of our ghostwriter must be practising her flogging

This is tough I want Melbourne to win but -- a dogs win might give us the chance to boot the Pies out of the eight in the last week. A big ask but how good would that be.

In the grand scheme of things the result doesn’t really matter.

So i’m hoping to enjoy the game and see our young players develop.

We are a professional group so I doubt we’ll lay down and not put in the effort.

Darcy is over a foot taller than our defenders so it’s hard to see how he doesn’t dominate

On the other hand, their defence is still average so get it in quickly and we can get some easy scores

All I want is for us to not give Essendon a top 5 pick. Thank you.

On the flip side not long after, there was Gawny doing the spin as expected saying something to the effect that he was amazed how quickly he and the side has moved on.  It was very easy to see right through this.  He was just doing his job.  In my opinion he clearly was not a happy man.

And that’s exactly what that was.

Folks don’t wanna hear it but what Max said doesn’t reflect how the players feel. It likely doesn’t even reflect how he feels. But he had to do it.

I asked six players privately and individually how they feel and I’m not about to elaborate but let’s just say they range from not happy to very [censored] off. Again, people don’t wanna hear it but this is how it is.

She doesn’t need to practice her flogging. She’s a flogging maestro 😅

She went to her sister’s birthday party last night planning on staying for a couple of hours and not drinking. Cut to 3am and she’s staggering up to her front door loudly telling the neighbourhood she’s gotta get up early to go watch her mighty Dees smash the pies 🤷‍♀️

She drank so much she time travelled to the future

She’s putting the stoopid time machine on FB market place coz last night it took her back to when she was 20yo and could drink to excess and still function adequately the next day.

Maths not a strong point?

Darcy 205cm

Tommy Mac 195cm Turner about the same.

That's 10cm

10cm is not over a foot!

If it is then.... wow!

That’s a perfectly understandable response.

The players have every right to be ropeable right now...with themselves. Reality is, rightly or wrongly (and whether it was going to last another 12 months who knows) Goodwin would still have the job right now if not for the players' 'laydown Sally' a couple of weeks back. They made the situation untenable.

If the players are seriously more annoyed with the board than themselves then I am hugely concerned that they might be the most delusional group of people ever assembled. They had their chance to show their desire to see Goodwin safe in his job and they burnt him.

Now over the last 3 rounds we get to see if they'll burn the club down too. 3 bad losses may significantly hurt our chances of trying to convince someone to take the coaching job.

If they do lay down over the last 3 then it might just confirm we are better going with a young coach and a rebuild than a reset anyway.

Is it:

Perhaps the players should have performed better!

Game plan not good enough!

Playing list not as good as we think!

Players slow learners as after 4 years still can’t kick to advantage if forwards nor forwards lead to good positions!

Completely understand the players feeling upset and angry at the boards decision

But they are paid professionals so they better go out and give 100% and not have a sook

Every kids dream to run out on the G on a sunny day to play footy

Doesn't bode well for a decent effort today I fear.

Bloody well said! These players have a lot to answer for. A lot of them have been putrid for the past 2-3 seasons. Show some ticker, or bugger off

For those at the ground today, at halftime we’re doing a “bay banner” which is part of the AFLW promotion. A huge banner will be draped over our bay and it will be quite the spectacle. We’ll be sitting under it and we’ve been told to wiggle around while under it and if ever there was a DA event tailored for me… this is it 😃

This is it…

What an absolutely glorious day to be watching footy & not under a roof.

A fresh voice might be good today, I have no expectations today. Just want to see what Chaplin brings in

Purely from a curiosity perspective, considering what just happened a few days ago and your close relationship with some of the players, what sort of Melbourne do you think will front up this afternoon?

I flip and flop, I can see a real statement game or I can see them going through the motions. In other words, I have no idea😐

If I had to guess, sadly it will be the later, hope I’m proven wrong

Against the Bulldogs? I'd like a little bit of bang, bang, bang deja vu.

It is certainly not in the player’s best interest to sulk and put up an average performance. Their future coach will undoubtedly be watching today.

I heard Paul Roos say that he watched the last few games of the season before he took over as coach, and was so impressed with Nev Jetta he saved him from a certain delisting.

Opportunity aplenty for players to show their next coach what they’re made of.

As Gawny said, footy waits for nobody.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
