Yes he's been managed so poorly managed, to his own detriment - but hes just had one of his better games for the year? Doesn't compute mate

You've got no idea. Maybe go & do a coaching course before you post again.

The way Kentfield floats across packs and plucks marks is a thing of beauty.

For all those suggesting Jeffo needs to do this against better defenders.... yes that will come but worth noting he has spent big chunks of today on Zaine Cordy, who played AFL for a few teams for many years. He's certainly not some EFL level nobody. Jeffo has absolutely dominated - either deep forward or up the ground he looks a level above

Not watching, how has Duursma looked?

And Kalani?

duursma is super smooth and has a laser-like kick - he is meant to be the best of the brothers, and looks like a good player

kalani barely on the ground from what i've seen

billings best on ground by a long way

3QT  Casey Demons 14.9.93 Sandringham 5.5.35

Goals Hardie Sharp 3 Billings Jefferson Kentfield 2 Laurie Tholstrup

Disposals Billings 27 Bonner 26 Brown Campbell 21 Hardie 16

Bit of a stalemate that quarter. Jefferson impressive but should have had at least another 2-3 goals to his name to truly represent his performance.

Sharp bobbing up late to hit the scoreboard. Kentfield not getting a lot of it but looks so impressive when he runs and jumps at the ball. Near unstoppable in the air and hands rock solid.

Billings probably best on, hardie having a huge game and Campbell an absolute warrier. If we didn't have Gawn he would be playing firsts.

The stats person has stopped taking stats for Tholstrup.

Had 9 disposal in the first quarter. 2nd quarter i counted five that he gathered but was listed as having 11 disposals in the first half.

Watched him with two handballs that quarter and is still listed on 11..

I thought that a couple times then realised it was Sharp I was looking at, same hair, pretty sure Kolt didn’t get a touch that quarter

Late for the party at Casey Fields missed the fireworks too. Second half thus far a few observations;

Commentators obviously newbies ban the bounce or bounce just at start of qt. !!! Umpires need to practice bouncing the ball and getting decisions right.

Tom Campbell going well. Deakin Smith looking OK. Jed Adams has got some attributes. Willem Dursma looks a talent. Scout Taylor needs to move heaven and earth to get another Dursma in. Father/Son dill get it done. You owe us one.

Kolt gave a handball out in our forward half late that quarter.

It wasn't Sharp.

Give Jeffo a run of games at Casey. getting confidence with his marking and contest. He can work on his kicking next

Stats have been a bit sketchy for a while. Lot of tackles missed I've noticed. Laurie had 2 in the first 5 minutes that weren't registered.

Doubling that Khalani has barely got a run. Billings has been really good. Kolt around the ball and pressuring but not getting his hands on it since the first quarter - albeit Travaliga has spent more time minding him at stoppage as well.

I havent really seen Sharp - yet he has kicked 3! I've liked Kynan Brown today - but I do wonder where he fits in AFL. Mentha so exciting I wish he got it more.

I felt deflated throughout the week about Jefferson, but again today you just see how good he can be and that he has all the skills to make it as a top line AFL forward.

Thinking towards finals - you'd want to make sure that Kolt doesnt play more than 3 more games in the seniors as it would be good for him to play finals. And oddly Howes will also be avliable for us as well.

Someone else looks like him 😳

If there was a moment that personified our AFL / VFL season, it was that set shot for goal by Jefferson where he went to 2 goals 5 for the day.

30m out directly in front, he just leaned back and kicked the ball on the flat like a pancake.

It was so incredibly lazy and ill disciplined after taking a great mark.

What on earth is going on with our skills?

Has he bought his personal kicking coach with him? Pickett can put his hand up. He’s a local.

The sting has gone right out of this one.

TC’s follow-up work in this game has been sublime. His ability to hit players running past with handballs or dinky little kicks is great to watch.

Spent some time this quarter watching Kolt at stoppages. Clearly knows where and when to go and is getting to the ball drop well. On the spread is running to right places. Skills looking good. However, he is often flat footed, rarely pushing with bodily strength against his opponent to dominate position, and lots of walking when the ball is not near him. I agree with others above that he needs a full preseason, and I would have him next to Viney and Clarry to test and develop his physicality and intensity.

Jeffo is doing everything right except his marking and kicking. Which means he is getting the major things wrong.

I love both these boys' potential but need to see development over the next preseason.

He doesn't have quick awareness or a footballing brain. His GPS stats are off the charts but he can't react in tight. I hope it's a confidence thing but I'm doubtful

Jeffos kicking was one of his best attributes earlier in his career. I think now he is getting up and back more and actually working defensively, he is cooked when he takes the shot. Fitness

I'd really love to see Tom Campbell get a run in the seniors before seasons end. He's had a great year for Casey

it's a real worry - three pre-seasons and he simply runs out of puff shortly after half time at afl level, and by 3/4 time at vfl level

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
