Yep love 2 seasons of bottom 4 finishes and 2 seasons before that of straight sets final losses.

We are going swimmingly nothing to see here!

FYI Richmond are one win behind us thatโ€™s how well we are going but our coach is all over it. [censored].

Haha yeah but its not the coaches vault.

Probably one of the absolute worst takes from old mate bingers

We are big average, yes, but pull your head of the sand. The umpiring is absolutely fโ€™d.

Didn't lose us the game.

Our own ineptitude did that for us.

Exactly. Have any of these morons calling for the coaches head seen the stats? Did they actually watch the game? That was appalling umpiring.

I watched the game.

I see a better group of players who are confused with a failing system. Often flat footed and unsure. Champions like Trac having little influence.

I think we missed the chance to fire Goodwin, heโ€™s staying. But my God he needs to get more out of the potential of this list. Make no mistake, heโ€™s failing.

What are you seeing?

Another dismal display of skills. Every attempted chain was painful to watch.

The discipline was also junior level.

Tholstrup needs a permanent rest, bring in K Brown so we can have a look at something with potential.

We lost to an understrength Carlton. Seriously.

Buzzy, I just feel Brown in has a touch of 'deck chairs on the Titanic' about it. If he's right to go, give Sestan an extended run. Or play Ricky Mentha.

So, the umpires are to blame for a poorly skilled side by hand and foot; a side that struggles with football nous and a game plan that's not working. But it's the umpires' fault, they make fewer mistakes than players. It's time to drop Salem, revamp the midfield, and persist with it for the last five games. As for Jefferson, yes, he had some bad moments, but give him the last five games to confirm whether he can make it. In the end, this club needs to make some serious decisions at season's end, and it must take the hard decisions to fix it.

How's mega-coach Alistair Clarkson going at North in his third year?

Didn't you watch the game? You didn't witness the stitch up?

This happens time and time against this rubbish team and the best some of our 'supporters' can do is bag our own.

To be clear. We didn't lose this game, the umpires won it for Carlton. If you can't see that - you are part of the problem!

We are genuinely a bang average footy club.

Our skills are absolutely deplorable and probably the worse in the AFL competition.

Old players are completely washed up and cooked.

Makes me sick to think we've got another 12 months of Goodwin rubbish.

Agreed

The Club has to make some very Serious decisions, starting in September

We cannot take the same Template into Next Year.

New Gameplanโ€ฆ.??

This list is not prepared properly for Games

Skills, Decision Making, Running to make Space.

No job should be Safe in The football Department, come September

You cannot switch on for 5 minutes, then drop off again.

Thatโ€™s Coaching and Hi Performance Conditioning

Jefferson was like van rooyen last year. Nearly held his marks. His kicking needs work though. Yes he nailed that goal but butchered many

What a crock of [censored]. A full game of errors, poor disposal and lack of effort and you choose a few decisions to define the game.

Iโ€™m with youโ€ฆ but Salem? He was ok tonight. Heโ€™s had solid games this year.

Not sure what to make of Jeffoโ€™s game. He could actually be really good if he wasnโ€™t so bad if that makes sense. Iโ€™d give him a few more weeks

Jeffo looked like he was getting to the right spots, which shows he's learning, but his decision making was diabolical tonight. I'm pretty sure every one of his disposals in the first half led to a turnover.

On the other hand, he laid some great smothers inside forward 50 and clunked a couple. Nailed that late game set shot under pressure as well.

Sestan hasnt played for about 5 weeks. Not only was he not even in consideration prior to injury but he'll need a good block of games in good form.

At least Brown is a tackling machine and would add forward half pressure.

No. His country league football needs work. He will be at Waubra next year

Imagine if Pickett wasn't in this side? This season would be completely unwatchable and it's painful enough already.

I actually feel bad for Kossie. Choosing money over success couldnโ€™t have been an easy decision.

The irony is that at Casey his kicking is the best part of his game. I think itโ€™s a lack of confidence and nerves. He is actually quite skilled for a big guy.

Kosi is basically the only player in our team who I want touching the ball from anywhere 65m-5m out from goal.

North was a basket case until he got there. he has a bunch of kids that are going to take time to develop, but there are signs, unlike us, a premiership in 21, and are going backward at a speed of knots.

Brown is an absolute butcher of the football. No thanks.

Blame the umpires but turn a complete blind eye to the deplorable skill level from our players on show tonight.

If you're blaming our loss purely on umpire, then you simply have problems yourself.

It's hard to beat the umpires but it's harder to beat an average side with below average execution.

There were some good signs from some of the younger guys. Pickett is a generational talent, Langford is phenomenal, JVR is presenting and marking again and Jefferson dropped a few easy ones, but clunked a few good ones and worked himself into the game. Let them run the year out and with another pre-season they can both go up a level.

Rivers and Langford need to be moved into the midfield, it seems like such an obvious move but it's clearly one that will not happen anytime soon, I think partly because Viney and Oliver lack positional versatility. Very strange that Petracca isn't playing in the forward line more with Pickett able to pick up the slack in the midfield.

Having said that, the list is better than what we're dishing up, so I understand why people are disappointed. We need to upgrade Salem to kicking coach because he's one of the few guys (alongside the 19 year old Langford) who can consistently hit that 20 metre kick and the game is heading towards if you can't do that, you're going to struggle to win games.

Ok, so you're one of them.

That game full of errors got us very close to winning, but what changed to stop us from doing so? Have a little think now for a change and you'll work it out.

If Goodwin goes we'll spend 10 years at the bottom. Is that what you want?

Where were all the foxtel warriors when Xerri knocked Swallow out.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
