The Casey Demons are in 10th spot on the ladder but with a bye and a couple of tough games ahead of them, this week’s game against Carlton is a must win encounter.

That would be 17 AFL listed players! The Sunday game means Casey should not lose any AFL listed due to carryover emergencies (and a Sunday AFL match next week). Surely we smash a decimated Carlton outfit....

Anyone else think we should have taken Adelaide's offer a year or so ago??

You'd reckon the Doggies would be keen too

Paul Amy reports

Jack Ferraro also to make a VFL debut, for Casey Demons, filling the 23rd player slot. He's kicked 24 goals from 12 games for Dingley this season in the Southern league

15 v 10 AFL listed players - they have 2 former AFL players and so do we.

Note Fullerton named in the backline

Interesting to see Jack Ferraro get a call up to Casey. He spent the last few years at St Bedes-Mentone Tigers, which was where Kyah Farris-White played last year.

It just goes to show that you never know who is watching and where the next opportunity might come from.

Squeezed out of the forward line with the inclusion of Harrison Petty and Aiden Johnson. Add Luker Kentfield there’s a couple of potential CHB’s named up forward.

Meanwhile at the match committee meeting events have moved beyond ‘we have a cunning plan’.

How does he go?

Ummmm…… Yep

Not unhappy if Petty plays CHF or FF , Kentfield gets to play in an important position, hopefully he can kick a bag of goals. Also playing Fullarton in defence is not a bad idea as he needs to prove himself.

Strange as it may seem, that’s the first time this season when Casey has been in the position where it isn’t losing any players as carry over emergencies meaning that no players are forced to have their seasons disrupted by a week off, a situation which is already aggravated by the number of byes in the fixture. The disadvantage in losing a couple of AFL listed players can be crucial and it’s worth noting that Casey have lost a couple of close games this year.

Casey doesn’t even have that advantage over the opposition because Carlton are in the same boat as us this weekend. We should win anyway but it would be good if the draw worked to our advantage for once.

Massive chance for Adams to play a blinder and throw his name up to replace May next week.

Positives? The Sun still rose this morning and Casey Demons are about to play. Player watch? Ricky Mentha and Big Luker. Paddy Cross returns.

Fullarton playing as a backman is an interesting move. Gave away an early dubious free.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
