Not complaining coz I’m a winter person but [censored] me dead it’s cold. The wind is brutal; ‘tis freezing and ‘tis blowing a gale. The boys will have trouble controlling the soccer ball. Yep… the soccer ball…SOCCER BALLLLLL 🫣

School holidays so there are some kids here, five or six kids but that’s better than none.

Did we cop any injuries in Adelaide GW.

And how is Petty? Is he over his concussion? And what are your thoughts on Kentfield? - should he be given a run, just so he can see what is required at the top level?

Hopefully they have mastered stuffing up the soccer ball, they can get back to learning how to kick a football😁

And what is Kentfield's actual height?

Petty wasn’t here today. I doubt he’ll be right for Sunday. Apparently he was still groggy a day and a half after the incident. Howes wasn’t here either.

On Luker, Chocco wasn’t at the firsts on the weekend as he was needed at Casey. He said he thinks Luker played his best at that match and that they’re very pleased at his rate of progress.

I asked Luker if he feels he’s ready to debut this year, he said he’d love to but he doesn’t think he’s good enough, therefore he can’t see it happening. Not surprised at his reply since he really lacks confidence in himself. The good thing is he’s slowly gaining confidence, slowly but definitely surely.

All this soccer talk had me thinking, what would my MFC team be.

I'm a sucker for a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Striker - Melksham
CAM - Petracca - had to include him.
Wingers - Langdon and Kozzy (inverted role)
Double Pivot - Salem and Rivers
Defence: I;d probaly play Xavier Lindsay and Jake Bowey as my wingbacks. Disco Turner would be a CB but not sure May has the mobility - so probably throw H back there too.
GK: Lever. Gawn probably the better choice for Height but want better delivery from the back.

The answer’s not simple. He said he’s 196cm when he first gets out of bed in the morning but by bedtime at night he’s 194cm, then he proceeded to school me on how gravity affects our height and how it manifests itself in the changeable space between the discs in our spine. And if I didn’t love that boy before, I sure as hell do now 🤣

I asked Sesto about his progress. He said he was expecting to be available this weekend but they’ve decided to give it another week. He said, “I’ll be right for the Carlton match.” Initially l thought he meant the firsts and he’d let it slip out but then I realised Casey plays Carlton VFL on the same weekend and that’s to what he was referring.

Cold and windy, but soccer was still the go - the boys loved it and the Captain and Vice Captain combined for the winning goal!

Quite a few absentees today:

May, Lever, Spargo, Turner, Melksham, Langford, Lindsay, Howes, Campbell,Fullarton, Petty, Pickett and Henderson.

Hore (out for the year) and MacAdam also absent, but AMW was present for a short period.

Goal-kicking practice again and Trac, as usual, was last from the field - certainly trying hard that boy.

Presumably the 12-day concussion protocol also prevents players from participating in any form of physical training. Petty and Howe were concussed on 28 June, so are still within that 12 day timeline.

There was a kids’ footy clinic this morning at Gosch’s. Clarrie would’ve been in his element. He loves children.

Can't believe supporters are scraping the absolute bottom of the barrell.

One half decent game in the seconds & now suggestions of a promotion. Great method to develop players.

Well, I will tell you one thing about Kentfield, he would attack the ball a lot harder than Jefferson to make a contest at least.

If you can @Ghostwriter put your feelers out and find him a girlfriend everyone on Demonland is counting on you.

I think then we'll watch his confidence rise to the surface.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
