Spare a thought for the 80% of us that didn't attack nor praise Lamb during the trade period but let him get on with his damn job.

Those who want to use Lamb as a reason to attack people here just pull your head out of your rear ends and shut up.

The Eeyores are insufferable.

What makes it even worse is it seems they have no idea what his actual job is half the time.

Nor how a list management committee works. It isn't Tim Lamb sitting in a room by himself talking to himself and making up contracts.

Over and out from Tim Lamb.

Here’s the representation of Tim’s last week

Must be a confusing time for you after spending the week calling for his head based on your feelings about rumours, only to find that everyone is actually quite happy with his work once the facts presented themselves after the deals got done.

Tim looked very nervous in that interview. Trac, Clarry and BH (rumours) was a big week for him.

Overall, Tim and the club did well out of a bad situation.

We are worse off short term, but what we had was unlikely to yield a flag anyway

Medium term, with 8 1st round picks in 4 years we are definately closer to a flag

We need a fresh perspective for the entire List management team.

New Pres, New CEO, new coach all point to a new direction. Perfect time to scrutinise and replenish all roles, as it’s taken multiple people being negligent in their positions to land us where we find ourselves.

2021 is long in the rear view mirror, fresh direction from fresh voices to implement fresh ideas.

reminder than JVR el jefe, and kolt are all first round flops, i mean just look at the giants return on teh cameron deal, or the bmobers 2020 draft haul.

Screwed over on Oliver deal, but to be honest. Oliver made his bed and caused too many issues for the club. King needs clear air to work in.

Do you think Lamb put Clarry on the trade table? He was dealt a [censored] hand. The memo was to get Clarry to any club that would take him. It wasn't about "winning" the Clarry trade. It was about following orders.

Trade week is done and dusted still not overly happy with Lamb I think he's too soft. 3 average picks for a star doesn't seem right. If we got Humphrey I would have been happy. Oliver is damaged goods, he was a champion but he's tarnished his rep the last 2 years. I think we should delist McAdam then put him on the rookie list. No room for Woewodin with May staying.

Mihocek is a star but is he too old? He'll at the very least teach the young kids to play the right way. Heath is an unknown only played 4 games. Jiath could be a good pick up but he sounds like a bit too much like Hunt and we got rid of him for a reason. Steele could also be a good recruit but like Clarry his last 2 years have been ordinary, but before that he was a star easily St.Kilda's best player back then, he adds leadership something Clarry never had.

Would love a back pocket. Not sure Howes or AMW are the answer. CJ is better roaming up the ground.

Someone who can contribute right away would really help. A small/medium with tackling and some energy.

I don't entirely agree with what you've got here, but Josh Lindsay could shift to CJ's half back and CJ moves to the back pocket to play deeper. And Dovaston takes the forward pocket role next to JVR.

I don’t think CJ is best used deep, he’s an attacking intercept defender who covers ground. But it’s an option.

Dovaston is such a nice fit. We shouldn’t be drafting for need at this stage but if he is best available he’d slot right in.

i would move woey on and take 7,8,37, kalani at the draft and then jackson voss or mcfadyen (lions academy) as a rookie as needs based players

voss replaces mcvee and covers for salem/amw and offers some immediate depth down back with lots of our existing options playing up the ground

and mcfadyen could play the mcadam fritsch melky role hes 189cm, like a better noah yze, more agile, similar to hayward i'd say maybe without all of the pace

AMW, if he returns to full fitness, is an excellent option for BP. He is strong in 1 on 1's, has burst speed and loves a dash.

So it’s essentially Mcvee our for Jiath in. Not sure if I would say one is much better than the other at this stage.

Tracc out for 3 first rounders. If it’s 7&8 and maybe 10-12ish next year, that’s good compensation.

Oliver out for Steele in. I’d have taken this at the start of the period for sure. At least it’s not Oliver out for nothing.

Heath in and Mihocek in.

Pretty good result I’d say. Could have been a LOT worse.

As an aside, Brisbane had like 7-9 injuries from their starting 22 and they still won the flag. That’s a deep, deep list. Hopefully we’re looking at some of those players for next years trade period.

Spot on BoBo.

Agreed. This is very much the danger. It's how we go ourselves into trouble with Jefferson and arguably JVR. Best available.

I agree, but DS doesn't rate AMW, so hasn't included him.

The gap created in the salary cap (with the departures of Trac & Ollie) allowed the club to sign 4 players who were all virtual, free agents

Length of contracts for the 4 is quite manageable too (no long term deals)

Cost us chump change in terms of picks. And there's a good chance that all 4 will start in round 1 of 2026

And apparently the Saints are paying a percentage of Steele's contract

From an overall point of view the loss of Trac & Ollie is offset with the additions of all the draft capital

Before the trade period we started off with a pick in the mid to late 20's as our first pick

Suddenly, we've now got 3 first round picks with the duo off the books

The ongoing debt of having to pay for a percentage of Ollie's salary will quickly be forgotten if we start winning again

Do any Pie fans give 2 hoots about having to pay a percentage of Treloar & Grundy's salary? Not long after dispensing with the duo, they won the flag

Sometimes it's just best to cut your losses

Good post mate.

As much as I hate them and it was clearly out of necessity, Collingwood were very bold and brave with the Treloar and Grundy deals, and given their speedy success afterwards, I think it's encouraged others to be aggressive with these sorts of deals.

Settle! This was my post …

Tim. Tim Lamb. Don’t cave in now !!! Don’t talk a big game and then bottle it at the end. You need to screw the Suns if they want Petracca. If they don’t give up Humphrey, then it’s going to cost them heavily in picks. My deal is Trac and pick 27 for “7 &8 and Suns 2026 1st round pick”.

He got us the extra future 1st round pick … I commented as well played on the trading thread. It should help us get Humphrey next year.
