Agree. They are underwhelming. Perhaps strangely I have high hopes in Kentfield if we can get him on the park. Jefferson is a bust IMO

For mine its the small forwards we need more of. Hardly any big key forwards have kicked bags on GF day. Its the smalls like CCameron and ZBailey that have prevailed.

Since 2000 These are the only players that have kicked 3 goals or more and there are hardly any talls/KPFs in there.

You can argue that our young forwards have some potential, but you can't argue that Tim Lamb/the club have questionable judgement when assessing players that have been in the league more than 2 years.

Our recruitment from other clubs over the past 3 years has been a disaster. Who was proven right with the Grundy trade? Those on here who questioned his fit in the team or the club.

It's no different to fans questioning Goodwin's game plan, and Demonland happy clappers using the argument that they know more than you, so shut up.

Based on his track record, I take what Tim Lamb has to say with a grain of salt.

This isn’t about players we’ve drafted, Goody’s gameplan or DL happy clappers. This is simply about Tim Lamb being super excited about our young key forwards and I expressed my opinion about the reasons for why he is.

I doubt there’s been too many key forwards who have left a GF feeling anything other than completely battered.

The nature of these games is totally different and the smalls thrive because of the numbers drawn to aerial contests.

You definitely need big forwards in a GF

And if you have an issue with players we're recruiting, for the thousandth time, you need to be speaking to Jason Taylor who's head of recruitment and is also on the list management committee.

It's a little misleading judging team or forward line success merely from GF performances. While you have to play well in them if you can't even make them who cares. If we could do a straight swap of McVee for Jeremy Cameron are you gonna argue we shouldn't?

JT's role involves monitoring players who are not on AFL lists. He's not attending AFL games, and speaking with player managers to determine who is gettable. That is Tim Lamb's role.

In order to recruit a player from another club, you would need to know their salary demands and how it would need to be structured to fit in our cap. Once again, that is Tim Lamb's role.

Sure, Lamb wouldn't be working alone, but recruits from other clubs comes under his role, not JT.

Jason Taylor

"In late 2012 I was appointed National Recruiting Manager of the Melbourne Football Club; duties include Managing the National/International recruiting and talent Identification programs, List Management Committee and player selection in the National and Rookie Drafts."

Notwithstanding the above, your claim that Taylor suddenly stops monitoring players once they're on an AFL list is ... mind-boggling.

You didn't need the "extensively". Also widely discussed, head coaches participate in the process but are just one voice/vote. Chris Scott and others have spoken about it.

International is going well...if you don't take MFC into consideration.

A tall forward is more important to stop the easy intercept marking. Oscar played close on both Moore and DeKoning in their last two games and was succcessful while Neale played loose on Andrews and he had a ball. Maybe heath could fill that role. But you are correct they either have to kick goals or allow others to kick them.

Anyone who gets "super excited" about our young key forwards who got pantsed by Frankston's country footballers probably has a low excitement threshold.

So who's role is it to coordinate all the scouts around the country?

And do you seriously think that JT is talking to player managers from other clubs?

The coaches would be well aware of the capabilities of players on other lists. The ins and outs of contracts would fall under Lamb.

Do you think that Lamb spends all year just updating his salary cap spreadsheet?

You’re basing the appraisal on one game? I’m sure Tim Lamb isn’t.

I've saw about 8 Casey games. A more accurate assessment would be "I'm hopeful that Luker & Jeffo will develop into regular AFL players".

Super excited is definitely hubris.

That’s YOUR assessment, but it’s subjective, isn’t it.

Besides, I don’t think it’s hubristic. It’s not like Lamb credits himself alone with the progress of our young key forwards.

What date is the Happy clapper Vs Eye-ores match? It's been a while but I'm happy to line up in the forward pocket for the mighty Clappers.

Taylor.

Lamb does all the negotiations, list strategy, contracts, hustling, yadda yadda.

Which is why after working a full-on 40 hour week he's not getting up on a Saturday morning to stand in the cold at suburban footy ovals watching fringe AFL players like Campbell and Heath running round in the VFL.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
