Cause he played last night for Casey. We seriously have some part-timers on this site

Not everyone pays full time attention to Casey. Just sayin'

That, and possibly not the context of his question..

I'm also surprised that Tmac isn't on the standby list. He's by far and away a better player than many currently trotting around. Seems to matter little.

More selection curiosities 🤔🤷

PF I don't think you can play Jefferson and JVR together. Neither is good defensively and if they don't mark they contribute very little.

Agree especially in the wet

I understand van rooyens selection. I just hope he clunks his marks, but Howes & koltyn selection is a head scratcher.

I love koltyns enthusiasm but he hasn't been the player I thought he'd would have been.

Howes well just do something.

I can be enthusiastic but I wouldn't get a kick, the kolt always seems to get low statts and very few goals.

As much as I don't mind the selections I shudder to think if Lever gets into one on one against either Mihocek or McStay. Hes a real liability down back and i feel we've dropped the ball on this one with McDonald not in.

JVR was always going to get the nod purely on being able to ruck. Let's get him back into form now!

Tholstrup just needs more exposed form and experience. If he is going to be an important part of our talent moving forward then let's get games into him.

Howes has actually been dominating at Casey. Reward for form. Collingwoods forward line is elite. He could take either Elliot or Hill.

Would have loved to have found a spot for Jefferson but who do you take out in return?

Yep. I get we want a fit and firing Lever in our backline but he's a fair way off at present. Needs to really lift tomorrow.

I find it so weird - presumably people who post on thiscsite support the dees. Yet some just do nothing but knock tbe club.

It makes it impossible to take anything they write seriously.

You mean like this below, one thing you can count on every week at selection

Petty!

I know that, my question is why has he been dropped the last few games

T Mac certainly stiff. I reckon his distribution is the issue. He turns it over and has continued to do this at VFL level

Turnovers equals goals in todays footy

The other factor is Turner being great down back

It's also likely to be wet it's dangerous to go into tomorrow's game with 2 tall forwards who's only contribution is marking.

About time Sharp got cut

JVR over Jeffo is an easy decision. One has shown something at AFL level, the other nothing

Good to see JVR back in

Jeffo has not earned it yet after his pathetic performance last AFL game

Howes is an interesting one

T Mac played vfl so not a surprise

Only semi Devils advocate.. what exactly has JVR done to set the world on fire ?

Seems to me he's sqeaking in on thin merit.

Well Roo, over to you. Might not be the best day to try pack crashing marks 😉

I'm actually happy that Cox played VFL and not an inclusion. Cox has played some blinders against us and he always goes in hard against Gawn almost with an intent to injure.

McStay will be severely underdone and I hope they select him.

Back it in, McStay will play well.

That he seldom holds. Still living on the promise of 2023.

Petty!

Petty is the big bodied experience up forward that we need regardless of what others may think he adds as a forward.

Take him out and Jefferson or JVR get a Darcy Moore. Jefferson is years away from taking the number 1 defender on and JVR struggles as being the number one key forward.

Petty is important for our forward structure.

Ok Dazz! but still needs to KICK SOME BLOODY GOALS!

Agree. But he is by far the best option we have

he has proven himself at AFL level

A huge test for the kid

We have no depth. It's just the truth. We'll question changes every week because the cupboard is bare, even with an incredibly fit list.

Roo, lead out to space, anywhere, surprise us all.

Petty!

Petty has proven himself at this level 100 times over Jefferson, and gives us the flexibility to send him down back if one of their talls gets off the leash, or we want to swap him and Turner around.

Unfortunately Jefferson has no versatility. He can’t ruck or defend, which is unfortunate, because on form the last two weeks he deserves a game.

Agree. If he plays. Anyway Howes is clearly there for cover. Glad he is in. Was unlucky to be dropped in the first place and has been outstanding in the VFL...REALLY good, as the Casey coach would say (he uses the word ad nauseam).

If you reckon May should be dropped watch last weeks game again

Lever was poor but has enough runs on the board to keep his spot imo

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
