Yep and my son was really looking forward to going but he's been sick so we had to cancel. Surprised it wasn't more widely marketed, I got an email a couple of weeks back but that was it.

I was gonna go but completely forgot it was today.

Was going to go, put it in the diary on the phone and completely missed it this morning until I got the phone out to pay for the weeks groceries.....

Ah well missed my 'free' coffee

You didn’t miss much. The coffee was meh. But then again it was my third for the morning and the coffee from Alejandro my gorgeous Colombian barista is a hard act to follow.

I attended the training session, but not for the free coffee, because I do not drink coffee. I had the great pleasure of talking to my good friend Ghostwriter. I also congratulated Trac on his 200th game. Good to see some goal kicking practice including Choco showing them how to kick.

Is TMac playing VFL?

No, he isn’t. He was at Gosch’s today.

But he’s being managed so it’s no surprise he’s not playing for Casey 🤷‍♀️

How come the club didn’t just say that in the team announcement yesterday? Feels disrespectful to say he’s omitted if he’s actually being managed.

Same way we did with Melky.

I suspect he was actually omitted though, unless the official wording has changed?

I think it's ok to drop someone like TMac from the team and say "your not best 22 this weekend but not sure to your form and you don't need to go back to work on stuff. You'll be an emergency."

Hard to manage someone but name them emergency too?

Finally though, I believe that "injured", "managed", and "omitted" have contractual definitions with respect to the EBA, and the status of a play can impact their receipt of match payments, their eligibility for injury compensation, and trigger clauses in contracts.

So I suspect that if there is not a physical/fitness reason why someone is being "managed" they probably have to list them as "omitted" even if it feels disrespectful.

Except Tom has been a very consistent, in fact the only consistent tall defender, so far this season.

He has been our best tall defender all season. Hardly put a foot wrong. Saying omitted is an insult. If he is being tested say so.

I agree with this (his form) but not sure why it is relevant to what I said.

He can be our most consistent and in form defender up til now but still be omitted from the team, now that the coaches think the players that make up our best 22 are available.

Does anyone seriously think TMac gives a rats what the team sheet says. He’s 42 and will likely be playing plenty more football this year.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
