CASEY: Rd 08 vs Southport

Featured Replies

Dees are dominating but not on the scoreboard.

Lever looks to be playing well.

Howes is going well also.

JVR has played well but has missed two long shots and is a very good VFL forward. (But I maintain he will be better as a defender in the AFL.)

Jefferson has one goal (after nearly dropping the uncontested mark) and missed a earlier set shot and another one kicked into the man on the mark. He is a dopey footballer.

Tholstrup just had his first kick and has been invisible.

Casey 32
Southport 27

Is it just my dodgy internet or is anyone else having issues with the broadcast?

Mitch Hardie old fashioned quality disposal. Ollie Sestan getting leather poisoning. Jed Adams good judgement of the ball in flight.

That play made him very visible not a hair is out of place

Adams and Kentfield will both be good AFL level defenders with time.

Sestan surely must get a look in at AFL level at a point to see how he translates up a level.

JVR doing more to get on the move and play in front and is marking well with softer hands.

Howes is doing what he always does at this level and dominating but he is just one of those tweeners where it doesn’t quite translate at the top.

all of our defenders look better when lever is on the ground with them

he's just such a 'presence' in the defensive set up

Sestan, Howes and Adams all having good games. With Jake due to go off after half a game. Will watch Second half efforts with interest.

I think Blake has been pretty unlucky at the top level this year. He hasn't struggled IMV, but he hasn't had huge impact and there are other defenders ahead him.

I just wonder if they need to try him on the wing or at half forward where he played his junior footy.

I reckon we're gonna be alright for tall defenders, which will enable us to play Turner and probably Petty forward long term.

Just the usual Smithy’s quality blurry occasionally but comes back into focus. Camera work is generally acceptable though.

100 odd AFL fantasy points at half time is not too shabby.

Sharks shark the lead Casey look rudderless bring on Rick!

Umpiring is reliably inconsistent back to the AFL amateur standard.

Billings blazes away balefully miss #5

I’m sorry but for the love of god can someone tell Van Rooyan to use 2 hands to mark a football. Whoever is coaching him has what should be a very simple issue to solve - use 2 f$&ing hands.

It’s driving me insane watching this Casey game with him trying to do the same one handed mark attempt and dropping it again and again…

One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
