I must say, I think May is near the end.

He's always panicked with frontal pressure and he's never been a good user, but he no longer really wins contests either.

It might be a big call, but I think if we're to get better this year, May will find himself on the fringe of the 22 by the end of 25.

I think his demise is greatly exaggerated, particularly being a little underdone.

It would be interesting to count his 1-1 win/loss next game?

Plus, the extra wins when he has beaten his man, and so goes leaves him to go to the next.

But yes, need to develop the next may. Turner the most likely but I like him forward.

We've both had similar thoughts these last two games Adam. His 1v1 efforts were his calling card, it was really worrying how easily Waterman got off the chain.

I think people will find that he's simply not box office anymore.

Clearly we need a long term May replacement pretty quickly but his season needs to be judged in context. Been said he is battling through PF and groin niggle - would kill acceleration, direction changing and jumping. I doubt he'd have played this much footy if Lever wasn't always crocked.

It would be so Michael Christian for him to give Melk a one weeks suspension, I have no faith in him making the right call.

He’ll absolutely get a week or 2.

Plays for Melbourne, it’s the AFL’s latest “rule we just made up to keep the media happy” and they’ll be itching to use it on someone, no special club discount.. he’ll go.

I have watched the incident a few times now. Not one person has mentioned that Ginbey pushes Petty into the path of McGovern and contributes to the contact.

Also Riewoldta commentary wasn’t that bad, basically saying that the AFL is now punishing the outcome more than ever.

If Milkshake gets a suspension I’ll be absolutely livid.

Is there a link to some video of Petty's injury? I never saw it.

I feel like this with the tunnelling rule that is relatively new there needs to be a level of intent. For example there was a tunnelling incident that Fitta did earlier this season, and his intent was to contact a guy that was completely at the mercy of gravity, to me that was a semi-intentional act (I say semi in that he didn't aim to tunnel, be he intentionally made dangerous contact). With Melk, they are contesting a marking contest and Melks eyes are firmly on the best way to win the ball.

That first half was rough 😂

It’s the kind of day where the light seems to hesitate, where victories drift past like half-remembered dreams, and the scoreboard whispers things no one quite understands. We stand at the edge of the moment, unsure if we’re walking toward something, or if something quiet is already walking toward us — a ripple in the mirror, waiting for the next wave to arrive.

I disagree. The modern game suits him perfectly.

He is ultra athletic for a tall lad. Beautiful kick and mark. He has every opportunity to become a high value player. Just needs the experience and belief.

I really have high hopes for him.

There's no reason why he can't eventually be a decent medium forward like a Waterman or Georgiados. Just needs to be played consistently up forward.

Petty back to defence till Rick is ready

Melksham's delivery is almost perfect.Footy smarts and experience. Must be played whenever fit...Boohoo to those who wrote him off and said no Fritta and he in the same team..

Both showed their class tonight..Fritta should have had 3..coming back from childbirth...needs consideration understanding footy isn't everything

Kolt doesn't go missing ..he's always there but just not clean..I had him dropped....maybe a couple more chances...but not a walkup selection yet.

Turner is a Real asset ...both back and forward. Should be played consistently.. I have always said this. Great Mark!! And good ground game!!

Sharp deserves to be played again..Boohoo to those who canned him...

Spargo works well..is improving by the week considering his extended lay-off and Achilles is a serious injury..and his was complicated..his tackle and subsequent goal..was inspirational even though the game was over...

Kozzie playing extended time in.mids works well and running forward freely suits his game.He gets the team moving forward and keeps it going

Chandler having a breakout year.

Viney as Tagger....keep it up..Who's no 1 mid at Hawthorn?

Langton working back to running game of '21..great stuff

Lindsey, Langford and Windsor...just make me feel good with ball in hand...

Rivers back to form...keep running ...still reckon.hes best running off hald back

Bowey and Salem..both good games

May....hmmm?...slowing down..still serviceable but we need to find a successor...maybe JVR could play back in the twos and let him play behind the ball

McVee..taking time to warm back up...keep him in

Sparrow working with pressure even if not stacking stat's

And TMac, Max and Trac...always!!!

GREAT TEAM EFFORT..with a rested Clarrie to return

Maybe JVR to replace concussed Petty but I like the smallish forward set up.. more agile and chaotic.

Melksham possible suspension

Problems for selection committee.

BRING ON THE HAWKS!!!

Melk is better when playing as a higher HF around the arc.

Him and Fritta should rarely play alongside each other deep. Just get in each other's way.

It's no coincidence that our forward craft and connection looked 30% better once Melk was asked to play as a HHF in the second half

May definitely looks to be reaching his cliff, I think it's important that we start to think of the next phase with him and whether that is him taking the number one defender. I like Petty and Disco as swing men, but I actually want them to both be defenders first with the swing there if needed. Ironically Petty seems to play better if he starts as a defender.

I want Adams in there soon. So we can see whether he's an answer at AFL level.

Funny when we were 0-5 everyone was saying Max and Viney might be past it. Nek minut both in our best handful of players 3 weeks straight.

Watching viney live is something else. Absolute wrecking ball in the centre square.

Turner and Petty as the 1 and 2 in the forward line is my preference. Give a trial for the next month. JVR had his chance and I reckon needs to have a solid month in the 2’s.

Fritta is on thin ice too. Should have had 4-5 goals tonight.

Milkshake, probably gets rubbed out because it’s MFC.

The hate of fritta knows no end…!shameful

I think it's a bit of him being a victim of his own success and standards. The fans know he can (and should) be so much better, but that said the delivery to him was doing no favours in the first half.

I thought he was ok without being good or bad.

I think it needs to be said that Goody and the coaching staff deserve massive credit for the way they have been able to get players to adjust and respond in 3rd quarters.

You can bag Goody for many things but good coaches know how to make half time adjustments and we’ve been doing an excellent job of that in recent weeks.

I laugh as I think of all the posters wondering why we kept Chandler whilst getting rid of Bedford

what were we thinking?

You seem to like making yourself look good on here.

Few people thought Max was past it and Viney wasn't in our best last week. Reel it in a bit

We may well make the switch with JVR to CHB.

I think that one of the most important periods in this game was the first half of the first quarter, when Viney sucked the confidence out of Harley Reid, like a dementor sucking the soul out of Barty Crouch Jnr!! That set us up for the rest of the game, despite our ordinary quarter and a half prior to half time.

On Friday night the Swans will be seeking to rebound from a challenging start to the season, while the Blues have the Top 8 in their sights after their sluggish start. Saturdays matches kick off with a blockbuster between the Collingwood and Kuwarna with the Magpies looking to maintain their strong form and the Crows aiming to make a statement on the road. The Giants aim to reinforce their top-eight status, while the Dockers will be looking to break the travel hoodoo. The sole Saturday game is a critical matchup for both teams, as the Bulldogs strive to cemet their spot in the top six and the Bombers desperately want break into the 8. Sundays start with a bottom 3 clash between the Tigers and Kangaroos with both teams wanting to avoid the being in wooden spoon contention. The Round concludes with the Eagles still searching for their first win of the season, while the Saints look to keep their finals hopes alive with a crucial away victory. • PREVIEW: Brisbane

And just like that, we’re Narrm again. Even though the annual AFL Sir Doug Nicholls Round which commemorates the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to our game has been a welcome addition to our calendar for ten years, more lately it has been a portent of tough times ahead for we beleaguered Narrm supporters. Ever since the club broke through for its historic 2021 premiership, this has become a troubling time of the year for the club. For example, it all began when Melbourne rebranded itself as Narrm across the two rounds of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round to become the first club to adopt an Indigenous club name especially for the occasion. It won its first outing under the brand against lowly North Melbourne to go to 10 wins and no losses but not without a struggle or a major injury to  star winger Ed Langdon who broke his ribs and missed several weeks. In the following week, still as Narrm, the team’s 17 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Dockers. That came along with more injuries, a plague that remained with them for the remainder of the season until, beset by injuries, the Dees were eliminated from the finals in straight sets. It was even worse last year, when Narrm inexplicably lowered its colours in Perth to the Waalit Marawar Eagles. Oh, the shame of it all! At least this year, if there is a corner to turn around, it has to be in the direction of something better. To that end, I produced a special pre-game chant in the local Narrm language - “nam mi:wi winnamun katjil prolin ambi ngamar thamelin amb” which roughly translated is “every heart beats true for the red and the blue.” >y belief is that if all of the Narrm faithful recite it long enough, then it might prove to be the only way to beat the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday. The Lions are coming off a disappointing draw at Marvel Stadium against a North Melbourne team that lacks the ability and know how to win games (except when playing Melbourne). Brisbane are, however, a different kettle of fish at home and have very few positional weaknesses. They are a midfield powerhouse, strong in defence and have plenty of forward options, particularly their small and medium sized players, to kick a winning score this week after the sting of last week’s below par performance.
