Totally agree & we kicked it out a lot quicker & got it moving. May takes way to long.

Don't know why we don't send may out to mark the kick in and give us variety rather than kicking to Max all the time

One of the highlights for me yesterday was in the last quarter. Bolton takes a mark well out from Goal, I suspect too far for him. Tries to run around the player on the mark mucks it up and they lose the ball. I think it was when they were only one goal behind. If he kicks to the square they have some tall forwards and smaller players at ground level. The Freo around me were as quiet as a church.

I said to my mate Bolton would try to run around the mark and he did. I thought the melb player was wise to it so well done -Rivers i think it was

It was Rivers, who he probably fended off too high on, but had Bolton not slipped he would have been past Rivers who fell to ground...

Not a guy you want to try tricks on.

Not a guy you want to try tricks on. Self centred on Boltons part, tried to win it himself when there was a good chance from delivering it to goal front.

What changed imo was the players were playing to their strengths not the desires of the FD.

Not mutually exclusive.

Great win. So glad I was there. I was hoping for a four quarter effort and the Dees gave it.

25K turned up today. Dees supporters were loud! I lost my voice - again!

As others have said in this thread - that was fun to watch. The style is less hesitant and much more play-on. It caught Freo by surprise so often - and me!

I noticed also that at one stage late in the game, the Forward 50 tackle count was us 23, Freo 3. Forward 50 entries were fast and many. Good signs.

Let's bring this style and intensity on ANZAC eve against the Tigers.

GO DEES!

Agree that Freo were caught off guard but now the novelty of surprise has worn off. Teams will expect it and that’s ok, it doesn’t always have to be elite disposal through the chain of possession (look at Collingwood vs Carton & Sydney) just has to be quick, ideally low and whenever possible into an open fwd line. The last part is fwds who can make something out of nothing. Petracca (running into open goal and misses, kicking around his body when should be kicking a drop punt) is hit and miss and Spargo (misses easy set shots) is better off being in the chain of possessions delivering the ball in. History tells us we won’t get 9 combined from Kozi and Petty every week so the sooner the club finishes handing out this supposed lesson to Fritsch the better. Against the Tigers and Eagles we might get it done but our next five after that is against Hawks, Lions, Swans, Saints & Pies. For a club that has form in either not scoring or kicking more begins than goals we will need Fritsch back.

I'd want to see no more injuries and all of May, McVee, Fritsch, JVR, Turner and after that Lever back into the side asap. With faster ball movement Fritsch will have a field day. Opposition sides will have to man up a forward half of Pickett, Fritsch, Petracca at times and Perhaps Petty and JVR. That's a handful when the ball is coming in quick, less so when it's bombed high and slow. If we can limit injuries we should have some decent footy coming up. There's no easy games when you're 1-5 though. Richmond aren't hopeless.

Turner is only 23 and Petty 25, both can play both ends of the ground. Petty obviously has more runs on the board in both, but Turner is starting to forge out a nice career for himself, I think it was against North he kick a nice goal from a tough angle from a pocket. He’s only played the 21 games so a lot to play out.

Forget him he is a 2021 hero who is unlike to play like that again. The competition now knows how to keep him poor. Trade him at year's end, we still need a KPF the current crop is average. His trade value is needed.

I’m telling you Fritsch will thrive in a fast transition game like we just played. Did you see the space in our 50?

I will believe it when I see it. It's been a year since he played well.

Plenty of players id trade before Fritsch.

Which key fwd are targeting?

The play we don't have in the kick in arsenal yet is the occasional play on give and go straight up the middle. Would love to see that at some point using say knuckles out of the square off to Windsor et al.

Another reason we need to re-sign TMac ASAP: the Filth are probably lurking in the shadows, ready to throw five years and a complimentary cheeseboard at him the moment we blink.

You are kidding last year for me.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
