NON-MFC: Round 05

So a dangerous tackle is when you hold a players arm, you drag them down and they hit their head on the ground?

Is that a technically correct decision?

Crows look very good , but there d50 will be their vulnerability. Maybe they’ll take Petty end of year?

For a bloke who is quite average at his own job BT is super confident about critiquing the goal umpires.

He’s always banging on about them not wanting to take responsibility for decisions by having them reviewed. I’m aussming but wouldn’t the review-happiness be an AFL directive

Burgess the secret weapon. Adelaide totally transformed, they remind me of us in 21

Nowhere near our 2021 version. They still need to defend a lot better, don’t think we ever had 78 points scored against us half way through a third quarter in 21.

Don’t forget there was no 6-6-6 when we had Burgess

Much easier to defend in 21

I think this is the case. They were told to review any scoring situations that may looked close… after Adelaide missed out on finals in edition 55 of the crows were robbed right in front of me, haha

Really? I don’t remember it in ‘21

Fair enough if i am wrong

Watching how fluently and accurately both these sides are able to move the football makes me wonder how we're ever going to win a game.

Have you forgotten bang bang bang

6-6-6 started in 2019 I think.

It’s gonna be a long season.

You forgot the last Bang!! 😎

Perhaps scheduling Adelaide to play tonight, off a five day break after playing on the Gold Coast in the daytime in early-April, wasn't the best idea?

As frustrating as it is to see Geelong rack up another win to know there are 50,000 Crows supporters going home disappointed after losing an extra home game their state government bought does soften the blow a little.

How did we end up with Laurie and Bowey and Geelong got Holmes.

Blame Adelaide for trading the pick to them.

Fitness, selflessness, hunger, superior coaching along with recruitment the difference between Geelong and our Club.

[censored] it makes me angry watching our demise and these smug crunts turn up year after year and take the p iss out of the comp when our lists are so similar.

Player development they can attract quality coaches and have a great development pathways that nurture their young talent.

I think the stand rule came in the league in 21 and teams hadn't navigated their way around it yet.

Once they did our style of play was made redundant.

Quick speed on the ball killed us and we stuck with it our style for too long.

You are right. Thanks for that

I knew there was a rule, that hindered only us!!

We shouldn’t have risked it. And traded up to take 18 or 19 for 20,21 and a f2. I get you don’t get them all right and we were probably going for Holmes and Bowey.

Also high IQ footballers, not sure where we are on that front...

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
