It could be that neither club nor Tracc are saying anything because King has yet to get his head aound the issue.

I don't know.

But if they were 100% on keeping Trac why wouldn't they shut it down and repeat last year's position: He is contracted, he is staying. Full stop.

I'm not saying the club does want him gone or that Trac wants to go. My comment was about posters blaming Trac for the silence then connecting dots which simply aren't there to fit their own narrative or biases.

Common sense fuels my bias on this occasion. It all seems pretty straightforward to me how it would have developed after an exit meeting where Christian shared his thoughts on following year.

He wanted to explore, we facilitate that, but with bigger pool of teams this year. More chance it gets done.

All we as MFC can do is wait to see if the offers are going to be....hopefully a bidding war with few clubs interested.

Christian has his flaws but still a match winner on his day.

Going to be interesting to see how this all develops, either way!

Flanders and 6 (which will likely slide to 9) is fair trade.

Yes please.

But sadly I think Demonland is the only group that thinks this is a possibility.

Like May Petracca is a champion. But he has lost interest in the club and that is the time a ruthless club would find the best deal for him. Last year we couldn’t because it would have burned the club down and we would have had no leverage. This year I feel we are far better placed.

New Coach, staff, President and CEO. Let reset and contend as fast as we can, because a club like us can’t afford to be down for too long.

Petracca has no leadership qualities, but happy to take our dough.

Recover what we can from the train wreck.

See you later fella.

He’s worth a top 10 pick this year, unfortunately.

I'd say pick 10-15 in a normal year, in this years draft I'd want pick 5 for him! I imagine any deal really is based around the Crows future first as the core piece of the deal.

This is an oft-quoted fallacy.

Given that other clubs (like us) aren't able to pick up the academy/father-sons stars, they don't really count.

Pick 14 still gets you pick 14 of available talent and you would be confident of getting a decent player, supposedly "weak" draft or not.

I couldn't disagree more with that. The academy and father son plays absolutely count even if you won't ever get them as they indicate just how strong your pick is once it has shuffled back. In what is already a weak pool it's entirely reasonable to recognise that you're sliding even deeper.

Firstly trac hasn’t impacted as a forward because he has never played as a forward. Goodwin didn’t have the luxury to play him in the forward line because of 2nd string midfielders have never stood up.

Secondly, no team is giving us picks if they are paying tracs full wage. Picks will only come our way if we are subsidising his salary.

He played forward until 2020 and quite a fair bit over the last few years especially when our forward line has struggled. There's more than just a lack of goals/inaccuracy as to why I don't love his forward play. He rarely leads at the ball, he prefers to just stand and point. And he's poor defensively which is the big difference between him and Danger who flies in for tackles.

For all those saying ‘just hang onto him unless the deal is great’, I’m sure that will be the negotiating position but all signs are pointing towards both parties want to move on from each other.

Not entirely clear why Christian wants out (again) but I sense he is more isolated within the club than he once was. Fairly open secret too that his wife hasn’t gotten along well with many of the wags (my last intel on this was 1 year ago so not sure if that has changed).

As for the club? Sure he is still a very good player (2nd b&f) but he is 30, has inconsistent disposal (that is being generous), butchers the ball in front of goal, the game has moved away from what his strengths as a footballer are, one of highest paid on the list and maybe they think he is part of the cultural problems the club needs to re-set from. Sounds like reasonable grounds to move him on and try and get something from it.

The reports have been that both parties are open to a trade but that Trac isn't demanding a move in the same way as last year. i.e. would be comfortable to stay if nothing gets done.

Seems like both parties are approaching this pretty maturely.

I think this is a sound appraisal of where it's at.

As such if a 'good' outcome for all presents it may well transpire he moves.

The 'mature' approach would also realise no perfect deal exists.

Is going to be interesting come Circus time. With the 3 'bundled out' teams ( who obviously harboured greater expectations) looking to get right in the mix of trade then I'm thinking once those trees get shaking a few unexpected opportunities will present.

Not long now.

Might get a better sense of how Melbourne will deal once Monday comes arround

I would've thought 'common sense' and 'biases' are mutually exclusive...

I've not seen anything that says Trac wants to explore options or wants out.

That aside, I agree with you that Christian has his flaws but still a match winner. tbh I've resigned myself to Trac, if he goes, helping someone else win a premiership before we do. 🥺😭

it seems t me he is the cultural problem at the dees

Hasn't put in 4 quarters for a long time.extremely poor body language points and blames other players, poor disposal

Must be a nightmare to play with

No leadership qualities? The bloke played through pain, carried us when others disappeared, and still finished 2nd in the B&F. That’s leadership, whether you rate him or not. Calling him a train wreck says more about the impatience of some supporters than it does about him!

Funny how quick some are to erase Trac’s flag heroics, must be easy living in the shadows.

Can we just send him to Essendon..? They’ve heaps of high picks (possibly 3 top 10) and will have a Merrit sized hole in their midfield to fill.

Off to the Dons if he wants to leave. 😉

This makes me nervous. The only way I'd go ahead with a trade where we get just one pick is if Jason Taylor said he was really keen on two or three players in the draft and was close to certain one will be there at the pick we receive for Petracca. If not, I don't get it. This is not the 2024 curnucopia draft.

If the under 18 scouting team's opinion is that this is a 2019-ish draft, I'd be very concerned if we only got a pick in the teens.

And again, where has Trac himself ever said he wants to leave? I’m sick of repeating myself too: media speculation ≠ player quotes. Until it comes from him, it’s noise, nothing more!

Max Gawn on the radio was really interesting, i am curious if others read it the same, he took a big swipe at Tom Morris suggesting he isn't right about things, and basically implied the stories on Trac last year, this year and even Steven May this year might not be true.

Now i am certain Max would know if they were true so it's a really interesting approach for him to take if they are true.

I think you’re confusing me with someone who said Trac wants to leave.

I think if you can't see that Trac wants to leave, then you are being either very naïve, or you just don't want to believe it because you love him as a player. Those are valid reasons, but they don't make the reality different.

Trac was desperate to leave last year, and the club came out and strongly said no. This year, neither party has refuted the rumours, because both have reached an understanding that if a suitable deal can be reached, then Trac will be elsewhere next season.

If you think he doesn't need to respond to every rumour, you would be correct, but when you're a highly regarded player who made a huge mess trying to leave your club last year, and the rumours are still persisting, then you shut them down if they are not true. See Oliver via his manager last week.

Don't then. You've made your point a hundred times, we've heard it.

If you’ve ‘heard it a hundred times,’ then maybe listen the first time instead of twisting rumours into facts. Don’t blame me for repeating myself when it’s the same lazy narrative being thrown around over and over.

Max is a smart man. He knows how to increase the trade value of his teammates 😉

And he also hates Tom Morris, as everyone associated with the club does.

If I stand sideways , look over shoulder and squint I can see what you on about.

Not quite my view but get your point.

The silence is the tell imho.

Everyone's cagey.

I'm not having a go, but what will you say if he ends up leaving?

My sense is the club and player are ready to part ways if an acceptable deal can be done

that's a big IF though

I don't think the Crows can put a package together that satisfies us that does not include a Thilthorpe or Rachele. they won't do that deal

all roads lead to the suns if this deal gets done.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
