Reckon he doesn’t

I really hope not. I know everyone doesn’t love him and it’s been a bit of a wild ride over the (especially) last couple of years, but I believe he’ll get back to his best—or at least what his best is now as he’s probably changed simply as a result of what he’s gone through and getting older. He’s not in his 2021 form (and may never be), but he’s still a great player and whatever we’d get for him wouldn’t be what he’s worth. And I have a huge soft spot for him.

Just my opinion, it may be wrong—or different from lots of people’s, so before anyone comes for me, I’m well aware that my opinion is vastly different from some.

And I’m definitely not as far gone as some—I read on FB someone suggested Trac as Captain and Clarry as Vice Captain because the responsibility would help him ā€œgrowā€. As much as I like him, something tells me he wouldn’t love that.

For once Tommy’s not trolling. I just spoke with a guy who was in the rooms and he told me that Tracc’s (impromptu) speech was heartfelt and incredibly moving. Tracc said he’s 100% committed to the club. He said he loves the MFC and he doesn’t wanna be anywhere else. He told the boys he f@%#*#g loves them and his speech was very well received. There were even tears shed.

There may be some miscommunication/misunderstanding with what Salem said as the post above indicates that something similar to Tom M's X report did happen.

What station was Salem on and is their a link?

Well, someone wants it known that it allegedly happened. Whoever is leaking to Tom Morris, their Intel is that Trac is staying put. I'd much rather something positive be leaked than something negative like last year.

It's a weird one though. I'm sure Goodwin will be asked about it on 360 as well tonight.

I shouldn’t have been so quick to post what someone I only met a fortnight ago told me. This person who said he was in the rooms and heard the speech is now not replying to my calls/texts which is suss. Further, this morning I asked Harvey about the speech and he said, ā€œI didn’t hear any speech. I heard about a speech but I didn’t hear a speech.ā€

Apologies for quoting someone who clearly had a reason to spread mistruths. I don’t know his reason for such but there must be a reason.

Edit: I’ve got a feeling Morris is behind this.

That’s just a very weird thing to lie about if it didn’t happen, it’s so specific šŸ˜‚

Mighty Dees Gawn, Oliver, Fritsch, Van Roo LIVE at Matthe...

Dees Fans! You're invited to see Mighty Dees Gawn, Oliver, Fritsch, Van RooLIVE at Matthew Flinders Hotel, Chadstone!

Anyone going to this, might get some current insight to Clarry

From a PR perspective for Trac it wouldn’t be the dumbest move if someone from his camp told Morris this speech happened even if it didn’t.

More people likely to see the original story than the follow ups that it didn’t happen and helps Trac look better after getting the ā€œdivaā€ label.

If it leaks that it didn’t happen (which seems like what we’re hearing), it has minimal negative impact on the club or Trac and Morris gets burned and looks like the little weasel that we all know he is.

If, if Trac and/or Oliver leave, please god let it be to Norf, Saints, WCE or Essendon and please supply us with at least one very high draft pick in amongst the cattle trading.

If they go to Collingwood or Hawthorn I will spew up!

I don’t know what to believe. I’m guessing the speech didn’t happen or if it did, Tracc wasn’t addressing the whole side. Maybe it’s a coincidence that the two players who we know were asked about it weren’t present at the time šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Why would Morris or Trac's camp push this as it could so easily be shown to be BS? Pretty dumb.

Just lean into it.

I’m choosing to believe Tracc started doing the nut bush and everyone in the rooms followed suit for 45 minutes straight.

Tracc’s camp wouldn’t have fabricated this but Morris certainly would. He’s got form.

I feel like there’s a plausible scenario in which Morris puts this out as some sort of weird attempt at an apology to the Trac camp after the offseason damage he did to Trac and the club.

Definitely don’t disagree but as someone working in that space the general rule of thumb is that the first narrative put out on something this arbitrary is typically the most widely seen and believed—even if later potentially shown to be BS most people have already moved onto the next thing and will never come back to the story. So the first thing they read sticks and whatever comes next (if they even see it) elicits a mild shrug.

Best recent examples of this strategy come from a lot of the things said by a certain orange man on the other side of the pacific.

I reckon Tracc said it to the leadership group or a few people and it's been passed onto Tom Morris as a bigger thing than it was.

Regardless, I'm glad it's being reported by multiple people that he intends to stay. His agent and whoever is leaking want the press to highlight this, which is a good thing.

Regardless, Petracca needs to stop rushing his kicks. He's got more time than he thinks and previously, he nearly always used his smarts to escape trouble

We need his creativity by hand or foot ... a good example of that was his handpass to a streaming Viney on Saturday

He's getting the ball enough as he's playing forward a lot of the time but we need his disposals to be dynamic

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.Ā  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.Ā  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.Ā  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.Ā

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
