Of course there isnt.

Average year from a midfielder earning ridiculous amount of money on a huge contract.

On top of no brownlow votes for the year, 10 votes in the coaches award this year which is incredibly poor and 7th in the best and fairest all of this whilst just missing the one game.

There isnt a club out there that would be willing at all to take on his contract but his sub par form.

I thought clarry did spike in form slightly towards the end of the year! Have to hope that a new coach and system, a full pre season maybe a much better 2026!

It's sad we have to pay over a million a year for that

Which also impacts our ability to target and offer gun recruits a decent salary.

There's no evidence our salary cap is tight.

In fact it's the opposite, we were in for Windhager on good money, we're in for Flanders, we're in for Mihocek.

Can't go shopping without a solid bank balance.

Thing with both Flanders and Windhager is cleary the money is significantly more then what we have offered. If Flanders accept the saints offer then simply its a money thing over the connection with King.

St Kilder upped their offer the moment they found out we had strong interest in Windhager and that was pretty much it.

Im not saying our salary cap is tight, but i doubt there's wriggle room to go after a Ben King or Zak Butters next year. For that to happen either Petracca oe Oliver would need ro be off the books which is why the Club is clearly okay with Petracca looking around.

Seems these days that established players looking to switch clubs won't get out of bed for less than that.

Let’s hope we can trade in decent talent to improve the list vs the vfl players we gotten since 21!

Clarrys end to the season was a bit underrated I think..I think with a big pre season he can bounce back..

His late season form was still miles below his best.

We heard all this at the end of last year.

It was all "oh but a full pre season and he'll be back to his best again "....

I cant ever see him being back to his best again. Maybe a good footy solider, but nothing like previously.

I saw some signs of those quick hands again so I guess we’ll see!

Occam's razor

This morning on SEN, Cornes said that he had heard a rumour, that Trac was going to announce he was up for trade, in the next few days. He was clear that it was just something he had heard.

We shouldn't be surprised if that happens

Hot flash: King or Butters aren't coming to MFC. We need to trade for solid talent like Flanders and draft for stars, lucky we've got JT who can do that.

Why? Explain further..

Steven King already has a strong relationshipwith Ben King from GC and has openly stated that he will use all of his connections and networks in bringing on good players.

There was a rumour Cornes had half a brain... but i think they were overstating the case ....

None where a club is prepared to trade. They might take him if free as an FA.

At least with Trac there is genuine interest with clubs considering trades.

I will be over the moon if Oliver does reward the support the club has given him and lives up to the mega contract he signed in mid 2022.

I would like both of them to stay at least one more year and see what King can do. Then both might have better trade value.

I heaard last night from sources close to the industry that SEN's business model isn't working and that they will soon have to cut staff. Announcement expected a few days after the Grand Final.

The way Trac and ANB hugged prior to the start of our Crows match, had me thinking that Trac may want to be reunited with ANB next year.

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #12 Koltyn Tholstrup

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.

All at Melbourne are eagerly anticipating his resurgence to his previous peak performance levels.
